Anybody ever use Elance?

A site where you can put up to bid on projects people got, from writing, to web design.

And if "yes", any luck/good stories/horror stories?

Thinking about trying it myself.

It works, in the same sense that RentACoder works. Odds are, you will be outbid by someone in China, Russia, or India, who will promise to do it faster, cheaper, and better.

At least, that's been my experience with RAC and Elance. If you want to make decent money, this is not the way to do it, unless your expertise is worth very little to you.

I suppose you might have a leg up if you have rare and specific skills that happen to be in demand. It really depends on what work you intend to do. Really common, run-of-the-mill stuff, you will get outbid on every time.

Not even one won in a month? I'd be pretty happy if I only ended up getting jsut one. It's the extra cash thing I hope for.

Really, it depends on what you plan to do. Any idea? What kinds of jobs are you considering?

The rarer the skills involved, the more likely you'll get it--and at a decent price. But most of the stuff people ask for is silly and simple, like "install this software on my web server" or something.
