Am I the only one here who loves Sailor Moon? Moonies out yourself, or I will punish you in the name of the moon! ;-)

I love Sailor Moon and can't wait for the new anime to start.:bolian:

May favourite version of the story so far is PGSM, I think it's better than the manga and the old anime.

Is there a new one coming out? I enjoyed it back in the day when it was on syndication/Cartoon Network. I'm not normally into that type of show but it was so earnest and good natured that I liked it.

^^ There's going to be new Sailormoon?? This will make my daughter beyond happy!!!

She got into Sailor Moon several years ago and now (thanks to me thinking it's pretty cool too), has all the DVDs and a bunch of the toys.. Sure, the toys don't get played with much any more, but she still watches the DVDs...

I was even able to get a hold of Sailor Stars, which, IIRC, was not shown here in the US..

The live version, while definitely limited in scope (and by budget) had its charms...

Great news indeed!

I like Sailor Moon too. It's a shame that they never finished dubbing the series into english. Glad to hear that they're developing a new show though.

A new Sailor Moon? Awesome.

I watched the English dub when I was a kid and loved it. It was my gateway drug into anime. A few years ago I watched the first season in the original Japanese and it put the English version to shame. I should really watch beyond the first season one of these days.

^^ See if you can get a hold of Sailor Stars... It had English subtitles and was definitely NOT kiddy-scrubbed..

I only watched it because I was waiting for Dragonball Z to come on. I certainly never started to get into the storyline or the characters, and I certainly never started enjoying it and making it just as much appointment TV as DBZ. :shifty:

Nope. Never did that. Not one bit.

Aw hell, who am I kidding? I'm seriously excited for the new one.

Yep, I still do. Got me back into anime after a long dry spell back in the 90's. First time I made a serious effort to track down copies of the original Japanese version after seeing what the dub did with the first season finale.

Nah, I don't want to jump around. I watched some of Sailor Moon R, but the terrible filler arc with the Moonlight Knight and the alien plant monsters really killed my enthusiasm for the show. I did manage to get through it, but I stopped one or two episodes later. I'll probably pick things up immediately after the filler.

I did pick up a Sailor Moon game a few months ago. A beat 'em up like Double Dragon for the SNES based on the first season. It was a pretty terrible game, but it was awesome just to play as the Sailor Senshi and fight Queen Beryl and Endymion.

Agreed. Its definately a series you need to watch in order.

And you should go back and finish R sometime. It starts slow, but gets pretty darn epic as it goes along.

Personally it was SuperS that killed my enthusiasm for the show. I didn't even make it to the halfway mark.

Please tell me you're a six year old girl.
Please tell me you're not seriously jumping into a thread about a show you don't like just to ruin everyone's fun with this tired, phony, and completely outdated "shock and disgust" that people sometimes like to watch TV shows that are not targeted at the demographic they are a part of.

Your response is far more childish than liking any show could possibly be considered. C. S. Lewis had some wise words on this topic.

"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."

The tl;dr to that, if you don't feel like reading it, is that you come off like a sad child who very desperately wants to seem like an adult, and you impress no one.

Several people asked about the new anime, it was announced at a panel for Sailor Moon's 20th anniversary. It will start next summer and apparently they're planning to release it worldwide simultaneously (more or less), no info was given how they plan to do that, my guess is that they're setting up a streaming service for subtitled episodes.

I used to watch this show off and on on Toonami if I wasn't doing anything else. I honestly don't remember much about it except for Tuxedo Mask and the hot miniskirt outfits. I remember thinking it was entertaining enough.
