Any Wicker Man fans?

Distorted Humor

Of course, I am speaking of the great, epic British version, and not the one that has Nicolas cage punching a women in a bear suit as the high point of the movie.

Anyone else has this as a fave, be a guilty pleasure or something that you think is actually a quality movie?

The Wicker Man is one of my absolute favorite movies, and I wouldn't consider it a guilty pleasure at all. It's one of best British horror films of the era: witty, irreverent, blackly comic, erotic, and creepy. The ending gives you chills.

And the music is great, too. I listen to the soundtrack all the time. And I've got the novelization, the making-of book, etc.

Yeah, I'm a big fan. So is Christopher Lee, who has often cited it as one of his personal favorites of all the films he's done.

Good, someone else listens to the wonderful soundtrack too! :bolian:

I should like this film - it has an interesting storyline, is well-acted, and is genuinely eerie in places, with a good ending.

It just never engages me.

The only part of the remake I've seen is the bear-suit moment. Stellar stuff. :guffaw:

Have not seen this since the 70s. I'll have to put it in the DVD queue.

The remake is possibly the best example of why not to remake a movie.

It's a classic - the DVD with the two cuts is great.

Remake? Er... There was never a remake - mentions of it are just a viral hoax. Do not be fooled by them. Yeah.

I confess: I've never been able to bring myself to watch the remake.

And I'm someone who defends remakes on principle!

Indeed, though this does crack me up...

(No idea how to get embedding working, this is all you need to see of the hoax of the remake. I think the Chariots of Fire music has been added, but I could be wrong.)

I also recommend the 2 version DVD, I have it in the wooden case, and I happen to like the longer version...

That's not nearly as funny as if the woman was wearing the bear suit, which is how I originally read your opening post

I saw this back in the '80s, and I can still vividly recall certain scenes, especially the ending. Very creepy. Christopher Lee is quite good in this film.
