Any web designers here willing to assist a much less talented Trekkie?

Greetings. In the past couple of weeks, I have begun writing episodic reviews for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which I started for TrekBBS. Now, however, I've decided that I'd like to host them on a blog or web page as well, and I've looked into things to that end for the better part of the last hour. I settled on blogger at the recommendation of a friend, but I'm at somewhat of a crossroads.

I don't really want to do this without making the page DS9-themed and blogger's customization runs primarily through CSS. I barely know my way around HTML, though, having never put much time into learning these matters.

What I need is someone who can help me with a banner primarily, but anything else would be icing on the cake. The title of the blog is going to be "What They Left Behind: The Legacy of DS9" and I want a background image that really encompasses the vision of the series. It would have to be 250K or less and it would be seen at the top-center of the page, I assume.

My thoughts on how the image should appear are scattered. I think seeing the title in DS9-style font would be epic, but if that isn't a reasonably simple task, then so be it. I also have a grayish blue background color in my head for whatever reason, and the principle cast visible across the length of the image. Bonus points if the station and/or wormhole are also seen.

As for the rest of the blog, it would be stellar if I could get the DS9 font integrated somehow, but I'm sure I'm asking entirely too much.

If anyone out there can even so much as point me in the right direction for where to get help or comprehensively learn how to do it myself, that would be quite kind. If anyone out there is bored and good at these sorts of things, and wants to help me out in a more hands-on manner, I promise you'll receive full credit for anything you submit to me, and when the autobiographical movie on my comprehensive look back at the series is released to worldwide acclaim, you'll have your choice of resort planet.

I AM NOT a trained web designer so all the technical stuff is beyond me. My website (link in signature) is through squarespace, which has a lot of customizability and is easy enough for an IT noob like be to handle. To make a banner is easy enough though. You just make the image in any photo manipulation application (Photoshop, Painter, GIMP, et cetera) And upload it to your site. Simple enough. You need to know:
1) how big you want the image to be in pixels. And
2) How big you want the image to be in file size.
You seem to have the answer to specification 2. How big on the screen should it be?

I would help you out with an image except I've got a lot going on right now and I wouldn't have any time available till probably December or so. If no one helps you before then, I'd love to, but you'll probably get some generous soul before that.

Good luck!

Thank you so much! I'll check out your website and learn a thing or two along the way!

I found a suitable image and made some spiffy text for it, but I need to work on getting it much more rectangular in nature. I've also decided I'll be using WordPress, since it seems the better route for customization.
