Any under 30 classic film fans?

I forgot about that one. :o 15 years ago I would have considered it a favourite, but I'm not sure it is a favourite for me anymore. I think I care more for the symbols it has left us with in it's legacy, rather than the film itself.

I disagree. The film was both a product of its time and ahead of its time at the same time. It still stands up even today.

I'm not a big fan of pre 1970s things in general though. Most 1960s stuff I find quite repelling.

I myself enjoy most of the 60's output, and find the 70's quite repelling and as such the 70's is the least represented decade in my collection.

However I should point out there are numerous movies from the 70's I enjoy greatly. And I do enjoy movies from any decade.

Im 28 and I love classic films, like for exsample: Casablanca, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Cleopatra, Doctor Zhivago, The Rear Window, The Great Escape, Ben-Hur, Gone With The Wind, Giant, Dont Bother To Knock, Niagara, High Noon, The Country Girl, Grand Hotel ...and so on:cool::):techman:
Good films are good films, always:bolian:
I also like a lot the classic actresses, like: Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Lana Turner, Rita Hayworth...and so on:)

^^ Don't feel bad. I've watched Citizen Kane twice all the way through and I still don't get what is supposed to be so amazing about it. And although I know Blade Runner is full of interesting ideas I find it so fucking slow and plodding that it makes 2001: A Space Odyssey feel like a roller coaster.
I don't get all the fuss about citizen Kane and blade runner either.
I like citizen Kane but i would not call it the greatest film of all time and less said about Blade runner the better.
I've heard news that a restored Metropolis (1927) with restored footage is to be released. I wish I cared. Twice I've tried to watch this film all the way through and each time I fought to stay awake.

I'm not really into classic movies (23 years old) but Dr. Strangelove is my favourite movie of all time, so maybe if I watched more classical movies, I'd love more of them... And I also think 2001 is only a little boring :) (I prefer 2010 Year we make contact)

Though, if we counting any movie a classic which is older than me, I love Tron! (mentioning Star Wars would be too easy)

It's nice when an old movie has a message or a feel that's still powerful and relevant today. I reacted that way to both "Citizen Kane" and "Metropolis".

Most people marvel at the technical wizardry of those movies (camera angles and lighting in the former, special effects and production design in the latter) and rightfully so, but what struck me more about each (being someone generally more into dialogue and characters) was how much insight they had into human nature and the human condition.

My favourite moment from "Citizen Kane" is someone talking to the main character about how his fame and wealth don't mean much when his ambition has made him selfish and cut off from his humanity.

What sticks in my memory most powerfully from "Metropolis" is the still resonant warning message against humans becoming overwhelmed and dehumanized by technology: "heart must be the mediator of head and hands". The special effects still captivate me too, though, as primitive as they are.

Yes that to me is actually one of the most memorable celluloid moments I have have seen. And that message is as timely now as was then, if not more profound. And the special effects still astound me to this day.

I guess I'm the prime example of what you're looking for... I'm 13 and I looooove classic sci-fi/fantasy, like 2001: A Space Oddysey, Target: Earth, Godzilla, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, etc.
