Any theories on how the Breen's energy dissipators worked?

Although DS9 fortunately didn't go into any technobabbly detail on how the Breen's energy dissipators worked, I've always wondered how exactly they did.

Good question, neither mem alpha or mem beta have any more info than what we were given in the series but perhaps the books might? As for a theory on how it worked...perhaps some kind on negative charge which canceled out the positive? Sorry I am not a scientist...nor do i play one on tv lol

I think it worked on the hot air of the breath of someone spouting non-stop Breen static, only in this case the static was the Breen version of technobabble. When one Breen got tired another took over and static'ed/technobabbled at the energy disappator to keep it working!

They were called "energy dampening weapons" too, so presumably they suppressed electrical systems like the dampening fields that have been in various episodes.
