Any space for Q in upcoming episodes:

Snarfies

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Could Q be desicive in the Mirror univers. Any reasons to bring him in?.
Next episode Wolf inside something for Q appearence

I loved Q, I think he was well-used on Voyager, but he's one aspect of Trek I'd like to see stay in the past (or the future as it were).

I would however, like to see stories about more powerful, omnipresent entities rather than just "villain race of the week." Those are always fun. I just hope they stay away from the whole "super advanced alien testing or observing mankind."

That has been done to death.

Roddenberry went to the well with "godlike energy beings" way, way too frequently. Q was in a lot of ways a weird holdover from TOS days. That said, I preferred it in some ways to Berman Trek, where every single race was inexplicably only a few hundred years apart in technological development.

I like Q, but the Q episodes were mostly tripe. If they could do a Q episode that was refreshingly intelligent and entertaining, then yes, bring on the Q, but the odds are against.

And it would have to be 23rd century Q, pre Picard, pre trial against humanity. Odds are against.

Q would never work on this show. He'd have nobody to mess with.

Q works on TNG and VOY because he likes to mess around with Picard and Janeway (although for different reasons), who in turn like to spar with him. Q has ongoing feuds with both of those captains, because both sides keep it going.

The one time Q appeared on DS9, Sisko punched him in the face :guffaw: and so Q quickly realized that Sisko wasn't somebody he could bully or argue with, so that was the end of that.

The same goes with the other Trek captains we've seen - Archer and Kirk would want nothing to do with Q, and Lorca sure as hell would not.

That being said, I do have an idea though...

Perhaps Stamets' messing about with Tardigrade DNA and the mycelial network actually gives rise to the Q Continuum itself...

I love John de Lancie, but for me Q really overstayed his welcome in the franchise. I was never a big fan of the god-like aliens that were often encountered in TOS, though. I'd prefer the Q Continuum not to appear in Discovery at all, but if they do want to revisit them, I hope they take a fresh approach.
