Any predictions for 2009?

With 2009 just over 2 hours away in the Eastern time zone and with Coast to Coast AM already collecting its own list, I figure it might be fun to collect a predictions list from Trekbbs. Perhaps we can prove to be more precognitive than those who call Art Bell. Though that might not be saying much since their predictions tend to be outlandish at best. I'll keep the list until next year so we can see how well we did. I think, for the sake of not having the list drag on for weeks, it also might be prudent to make sure this thread lasts only through the 2nd. Anyone in? Here it goes:

I think in 2009, we'll see some genuine, conclusive signs that Kim Jung Il is dead, or at least incpacitated and unable to lead the bloated military complex in North Korea.

-The economy gets worse before it gets better
-The Peace in Iraq stablizes more as Afganistan falls apart
-Putin & Chavez bring about a type of Bay of Pigs II scenario for the US
-Pakistan nukes India or vice versa. Those two have been itching to go at it.
-Further science comes out indicating the "consensus" on man made global warming continues to be less and less consensual.
-Obama will have to put his kids in private school cause the media chaos is too much
-After 3 years of moderate hurrican activity there is an increase this year coming close to the '05 year total that sunk New Orleans.
-The Tennessee Titans win the SuperBowl
-Star Trek makes $200m+ at the US box office
-Michael Jackson launches a comeback attempt in the US with a new CD.
-Hugh Hefner dies strangely despite his realtive good health for his age
-Clint Eastwood wins a Best Actor Oscar at 78 for Gran Torino.

1. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
2. Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes.
3. The dead rising from the grave!
4.Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria!!!

Who ya gonna call? ;)

Yeah. But then they realized how epically shitty DC public schools are and came to the conclusion that would be the worst idea ever.

1. The United States and/or the UK, and possibly others, will enter into a peacekeeping action alongside China. I strongly suspect this will be in Pakistan, but it is also possible that it will be in India. The goal will be to keep any further nuclear destruction from affecting nations not actually IN the India/Pakistan conflict, like will have already happened to China due to radiation spread from a poorly handled or miscalculated border strike. (I may be a little early calling this one - it feels more like a 2010 event, but since the lead-up will be this year, I'm including it.)

2. At least one power that we currently think of as hostile (Iran, Venezuela, Russia, North Korea) will prove to be surprisingly friendly to us in a manner inconsistent with the U.S. government propaganda of the last 4 -8 years. This will be due to President Obama's change in tact with them. My best bet would be that this will be Venezuela.

3. Ford will acquire at least a few units (subdivisions, like Dodge or Buick) of one of its major U.S. competitors as that company comes completely apart. Toyota may pick up some, as well. At least one subdivision (maybe Saturn) will be spun out as an independent company.

4. The economy will begin to pull out of its slump in the 2nd quarter, and the truth about some of the forces and individuals that have been misdirecting and bleeding off our economic might will begin to come out. Heads will roll, figuratively and literally. We may ultimately invade or "strongly negotiate" with a Caribbean nation/territory, but that's further down the road.

5. Poor planning for the scheduling of movie roll-outs in Summer 2009 hurts all of the summer blockbusters at the box office. Star Trek still does very well, but not as well as some would have hoped. This will later turn out to be good for the fans, as it makes the Trek actors more reasonably priced for a new TV series.

I just saw a Saturn ad, and decided to Google a little. Check it out.

:D

In 2009, Scientists at CERN will conclusively prove that not only does the universe not really exist, but that if it did it would be pretty silly.
