One reason I posted these is that an Aussie lads' mag showed these pictures not far from the words 'sick bucket'. Had to apologise, branded as homophobic, blah blah blah. So I wondered what a more considered opinion might reveal.

Some guys are very adamant they'd never lie down with another guy. These images would confuse them badly. And in that confusion, in the less-thoughtful members of society, builds the need to hit what they think undermines them as men.
They see this person, feel desire, feel disgust at themselves for fancying a bloke and "being weak", and then take it out on the object of desire.
How this guy survived school I have no idea.

Two reasons: First, as I said, you gave it away.
Second: Any guy who does not get that memo, and thinks this person is attractive, and does so because he thinks it's a woman, is not being irrational. Once he finds out the truth, he may choose to back off (as I would have), and that is also not irrational.

It would appear to be Gene Roddenberry's philosophy based upon observations of his works over the course of decades. Not just Star Trek, but other Roddenberry productions, where was there a depict of a gay main character? Part of how homophobia manifest itself is through both antipathy and aversion.
Roddenberry's not depicting gays on the show was a deliberate decision, not an oversight. After Roddenberry left the show, his successors continue the policy by their own choice.

Androgyny doesn't repel me. It can sometimes be attractive, as it softens the rough edges of gender extremes. But having said that, I don't feel any attraction to Andrej.
Sure, but it's just a picture at the end of the day. There's nothing particularly meaningful about that sort of superficial sexual attraction, it's little more than observation.
Sure, it's an attractive image; like a painting or cartoon, either of which can be appealing or sexually arousing. In real life, I wouldn't consider him a potential partner; but then, that's true of 95% of women, too.
