Any news about POTC 4?

Has anyone heard anything about the new POTC movie other than it comes out summer 2011?

I heard they were using a book by Tim Powers as a basis for the story.

That's what I heard too, I'm not familiar with those books. I have heard that story was good and it involved the fountian of youth.I also heard a rumor that the kid at the end of the 3rd one is infact Jack. I just wonder if we ever figure out where the compass ultimately leads, if anywhere. I also hope they keep it simple and we can have it match the first one or be better.

^^ My how Lego has fallen. Back In My Day (TM) the "Pirates" sets were all we needed, and a smiley face with a red beard was better than a creepy painted-on Johnny Depp face.

Is this book it's maybe going to be based on about the fountain of youth or something similar? I took from the "heavily implied sequel map" at the end of the 3rd one that that's where they would take the plot next.

I agree. LEGO brought back Pirates this year, they were OK, nothing great, but still better than nothing. LEGO then signed a deal with Disney to make Toy Story, Prince of Persia and Cars sets for next year. PotC4 was announced and shortly after LEGO came out and said Pirates would be discontinued.

It's very clear that Pirates would have continued but with PotC4 and the new Disney license they will be making sets based on that.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides gets released June 20, 2011 with Johnny Depp returning as Captain Jack Sparrow, Penelope Cruz will play Sparrow’s love interest, Ian McShane (Deadwood) is in talks to play Blackbeard, the villain of the movie, and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey has been cast in the “key role” of Syrena, a beautiful and alluring young mermaid.

The film starts shooting next month on location in Hawaii, Great Britain and Los Angeles with Rob Marshall directing.

My wife is in the same boat. Now with Will and Liz gone, she dosn't care about the movies anymore. To be honest parts 2 and 3 were not good, they were not bad i suppose but were nothing compared to the epic of episode 1.

with that said, I will always turn into see what Deep does with Captian Jack.

I thought they were filming some scenes here the other day. At least, that's what I heard it was for. 50 or more guys in pirate get up. It rained on their parade though.

PotC - Liz & Will = A breath of fresh air.

I could just watch Jack and Hector go at it like Tom and Jerry for hours on end and I'd love it.
