Any new "new ship/crew" books on the schedule?

Ian Keldon

Fleet Captain
Once Vanguard is finished up, are there any new solos or series based on an entirely new ship/crew in the pipeline other than potentially new Calhoun stories from PAD?

I discount the Titan books because Riker (the lead character) is TNG, and Destiny books because Ezri is DS9.

I especially enjoyed A Singular Destiny, the lead in to the Typhon Pact books.

I believe David Mack over in the Storming Heaven thread stated that he wasn't aware of any plans for a series to replace Vanguard- and between the existing series (TOS, TNG, DS9, VGR, ENT, TTN, NF) and any miscellaneous projects (Myriad Universes, Mirror Universe, Typhon Pact, DTI) there will be no problem filling up the slot.

Well, DTI is sort of new ship/crew, just without the ship. There's one of those on the way.

I thought Typhon Pact was done and out in 4 books? Did they change their minds and decide to do more?

Either way, thanks for the info guys!

Well, the existence of the Pact is an open-ended phenomenon, so there was no reason they couldn't do more. The first four did well enough that they decided to commission my e-book The Struggle Within, and now they've decided to publish DRGIII's upcoming duology under the Typhon Pact banner as well, though that's after rejecting at least one previous subtitle for it.

Personally I would love a series of books exclusively following Captain Dax and the aventine :)

I just finished Destiny the other day and I have to second this!!

And after Destiny, ASD, and ZSG, I have to say 'please no'. I really liked the Ezri character on tv, but in the novels, she has turned into a know-it-all brat, especially in her relationship with Bashir, where everything she said about them as a couple was true because she used to be a counseler and had nine lifes of experience, and he was just wrong, well... because. Perhaps I'm the only who percieved her as such, but to me, a lot of potential was lost with this character.

I loved her in Destiny and ASD, but I thought her whole plotline was weirdly generic in ZSG. Didn't get any character development there at all.

Thirded! I like the idea of another series like Vanguard with a beginning, middle, and end though.

I'd be up for a Aventine series. Although it could be interesting to see them tie it into DSR v2.

I like Ezri more now as Aventine's skipper than as DS9's counselor. IMO, she's demonstrating her potential as a Dax.

Well you're not the only one, I loved Destiny and ASD but not because of what Ezri became.
I loved the TV character, unperfect as whe was, so human.
Now, she's become a kind of "Dax 9", too perfect.
I wish we could get Ezri back, not this "9 lives super captain".
ZSG disappointed me because of her attitude toward Bashir. (but the rest was good).

I don't think Aventine is worthy of a series. Popping up evey now and then for cameos is fine, but (technobabble drive aside) what does it have that the Enterprise-E or Titan doesn't? It'd just be another ship and crew in the already overcrowded 24th century, doing the same thing all the others are.

I think a USS Kelvin series is unlikely for reasons I posted elsewhere, but such a series would have a whole untapped era to explore, with a totally different political landscape and a fresh (not generic 24th century, not post-Borg woe) feel.

I'd like a Full Circle-esque story to bring DS9 inline with the rest of the 24th century, then a relaunch to the DS9 Relaunch where it has its own adventures. However, that being said. With Bajor in the Federation, the Pah Wraiths imprisoned and the Ascendant storyline hypothetically finished, unless a new story arc is began I don't think anything episodic would work that well.

I would also like another miniseries like Vanguard.

I would also like to see more Titan novels in the pipeline and more Voyager. TNG is not my favorite right now although that will probably change with Mack's trilogy, and Enterprise is over. Not sure where they'll go from here.

I want a continuation of the SCE series ...

And, of course, sequels to Articles of the Federation.
