Any love for Porthos?

Since this thread started I've been seeing beagles everywhere. Is it me or are they breeding like tribbles?

The breed picked up some popularity after little Uno won the Westminister Dog Show back in '08 (the first and thus far only one to do so in its 138 year history).

But owning one made me realize that beagles are one of the last breeds that would do well in an enclosed ship. At least most Naval vessals have some areas that can be walked for fresh air at sea, but a space vessal? Naw. And as mentioned they are loud when on a scent.

I wonder how the actor coped with studio conditions? Always looked quite docile and obedient to me.

I always thought it was pretty funny that the dog who played the mirror Porthos (a Rottweiler) was actually nicer and more of a 'big baby' than the beagle version was.

And I liked both Porthoses (Porthi?). Probably my favorite bit with the beagle is when the Ferengi are trying to talk to it. "I can't lock onto its language!"

Rottweilers have gotten an undeserved bad reputation due to some owners. I worked with a woman who had 3 Rotts, and though I was initially wary of them (always have been with large dogs), they were gentle and friendly.

Porthos loved Archer, so I'm sure he was happy. :)

Since this thread has been dead for almost two years, we'll let it rest in peace. Porthos fans are welcome to start a new thread.
