Any Books Similar to Lost?

The Lord of the Rings. Like Lost, it too confused the hell out of me to the extent that I had no idea what the hell was going on and eventually I gave up assuming the end would be disappointing and just as confusing as everything I'd read/watched so far.

Perhaps Santiago by Mike Resnick or the Riverworld series by P J Farmer.
Both foreshadow and have a deep mythology.

I have read Catch-22 last December because of its connection to Lost. It's probably one of the coolest books I've ever read, plus it has some very interesting Lost connections and similarities. You should take a look at this book when you're looking for Lost-related books.

The Lost producers have said that Alan Moore's "Watchmen" graphic novel, with its non-linear storytelling that used a lot of flashbacks, was an influence.
