Anton Yelchin dead in rollaway car accident

I've just seen this after having been away from the net for a few hours. Very tragic and sad news.

I'm very shocked. I really liked him as Chekov. Him and Karl Urban made Abrams Trek watchable.

I loved all of Anton's performances. if you haven't seen Like Crazy, do so now. His acting skills are really on display.

Shocked and saddened. I've seen Yelchin in maybe four roles and liked him in all of them. He was talented and charismatic, and by accounts both a nice person and an intellectually curious one.

:(Oh man how flipping sad....I went to IMDB and see a photo gallery for Anton without realizing at first it said 1989-2016. Thought it was to promote the movie. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought I misread it at first......one of the brightest spots of the new treks. Played Chekov wide eyed and full of energy......he was also great in Terminator Salvation. Rip Anton...

Truth is the only movies I saw Yelchin in were the two Trek movies and Terminator Salvation. He was definitely underutilized in all three, but he seemed a good actor and in interviews always came off as a great guy. Horrible news, and a damn shame.

This is just horrible news, So sorry for his family. It's going to be a very different experience watching the new movie now...at least for me. :weep:

So sad to hear this. Condolences to his family and friends.

It's always terrible when anyone loses someone, and we as Trek fans have followed all the series for so long that there have been many losses in the 'Trek family', but as someone said on a Yahoo Trek group I follow...

"Way too soon to be losing nuTrek people"

RIP Anton:(:(:(

I'm just not sure what to think and what to feel. I didn't know Anton personally, but still, this makes me so endlessly sad right now ... :(

^^^I get the sentiment but I dislike that image because it makes it about Star Trek.

He was a part of the family.

“Anton, you were brilliant,” Abrams, who directed Yelchin in both 2009’s Star Trek and 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness, wrote in the handwritten letter. “You were kind. You were funny as hell, and supremely talented. And you weren’t here nearly long enough. Missing you…”
