Another WIP Enterprise for the redux art challenge

Soooo....this is what was initially intendet to become my entry for the challenge. But the render from two angles is better in my opinion. I just wanted to post it here because of the flat shots I added.

Technical explanation of the last changes:

In my head the shape of the ship is explained with the two types of propulsion it uses. The FTL drive gets its energy from the spherical reactor in the back of the ship. This reactor is so powerful that it is surroundet by the large bell shaped structure that has the purpose to a) shield the rest of the ship from radiation, and b) to get rid of the massive amount of heat the reactor produces. Inside of it is a system of tubes filled with a cooling liquid. When the ship overheats this liquid can be exhausted into space. When this happens the cooling system will get new liquid wich is stored in the barrel shaped tanks you can see in the center of the ship. The cooling network extends over the entire ship.
The dish at the front of the ship produces a warp field wich will then become a bubble as the ship pushes into it. This bubble, what could be discribed as some kind of its own sub universe, will then "swim" through the surrounding space by contracting its surface.

The sub light drive (the six thruster packs) is basically pretty conventional. Each thruster pack uses its own little reactor. Travelling inside a solar system will take more time and be more "primitive" compared to real Trek.

The Sphere is the "main" ship wich contains most crew quarters, the bridge, astrometrics and basically everything except the FTL-drive. It can land and operate independent for quite some time. It is spherical because as soon as its detached from the "overpowered" FTL-drive (it is supposed to land and work as a base for exploration) its all about efficiancy so a sphere appears logical to me.

Soooo...I hope that cleared some things up. When I have more time again I will make some renders to explain how the defense system works and also its planned to make a bridge. But this will probably take some time.

Stay safe everybody, hope we see us all well and alive in a hopefully brighter 2021.
