Another Vulcan Science Officer ?

I happened to see this guy in the background in the beginning scene of "A piece of the action" - looks like a vulcan - also, check out those pants! Never have seen TOS clam diggers and THOSE boots - THEY ARE MADE FOR WALKIN' - what gives with this guy??

So did I! I must have watched this episode 50 times, and never caught this. Its even funnier when you watch the DVD, you can actually see skin between the boot and pant leg. I thought too it was some kind of weird Spock double, but this dude only has one shirt stripe, plus Spock and McCoy enter the bridge in the next scene.

Looks like Frank da Vinci. He was a Nimoy stand-in, stunt double, and a pretty regular extra during the original series. According to Memory Alpha he was in that episode as a Lt. Brent.

Yup that's him-he also played "Lt. Vinci" when he was a redshirt

His nickname was Bud so sometimes you see him as Bud daVinci or just bud Vinci. Typically they cast him using multiple names so they could play him a regular salary to keep him around week after week

if you look very closely you'll see that those are not vulcan ears, but human ones. its an optical illusions due to the camera angle & the man tilting his head in a funny way.
