Another New Frontier question

Does anyone know if there are anymore New Frontier books in the works. I know there is a story in the Mirror Universe book, but I was wondering if PD planned on keeping up the series as its the best of them, except for TNG(IMO).

^ There is a proposal in for the next book, at the very least. I don't know if it's been scheduled yet.

Is there any reason why the series wouldn't continue? I thought it was one of the more popular Trek series myself but I don't keep up with how things sell as that information usually isn't released.

I was under the impression that Peter David did them when he had time to do them considering his busy schedule.

Glad to hear that the next book has a preliminary start at least.

Only a proposal? I don't think I like the sound uh spelling of that.

TIRED?
Maybe Peter David is simply getting tired of writing for NF ... kinda understandable when he already wrote 15 novels or so. Maybe he's also reluctant of letting anyone write a novel about "his" series. If so, throw in some anthologies. Twelve novellas/year will do just fine. ;-)

Well, he'd be stupid to write the whole novel until the proposal got approval from his editor and Paula Block, or to write it before a contract was finalized.

PAD's been busy, among other things, writing TNG Before Dishonour. Have patience, youngling.

I don`t have that book yet but I learned that Calhoun has a small part in it. I can`t wait to read that bit, whatever it is!

It will help me to wait for the next book but I must admit, it is hard. :D

Why? Every tie-in novel, no matter who writes it, starts out as a proposal that has to be approved by the licensor before the first word of the novel is written. That's always been true and it always will be true. So what's the problem, exactly? :)

Oh, cool! I hadn't heard about that. First Shelby in Q&A and now this. :D

If only I had Before Dishonor... :(

No problem with a proposal itself, only what it stands for = more waiting time.

Proposal = must be accepted from Pocket Books
Accepted = takes time to write (half a year?), has to fit schedule > release in 2009?
Declined = new proposal, takes even longer then

Why would he be getting tired of writing NF. It's obvious from the way in which he wrote the books he enjoyed. This is also the bread winner for him, to just up and stop writing NF would be ridiculous. I do agree that nobody else should write NF books though. :klingon:

I wouldn't mind seeing another anthology by other authors. No Limits was a fantastic read.

The anthology was a good read. Maybe another arcing story with the rest of the universe. That would be cool. Although I don't know how many end of the universe stories you could do before it gets tedious.

I'm still hoping for a follow-up on the story "Redemption" and seeing how the change of philosophy in the Redeemers society has affected them.

I would love to have seen the redeemers go up against the acsedants. That would be an interesting book. Of course it would have to be set pre-Redemption, but I think that would be a nice collabo. Perfect for an anthology. Kinda like they did with Worlds Of DS9

Calhoun's parts in Before Dishonor are great and very funny. This includes all references to Calhoun, the Excalibur, etc.

Mac has some great scenes, a funny line or two, and some refrence to his crew that made me chuckle, wouldn't expect anything less in a Peter David Trek book. But you really don't like New Frontier that much anyway do ya Baerbel?
