Another new footage report at AICN

"We then cut to the Enterprise moving in slowly and firing a torpedo...It doesn't actually strike the ship, but explodes once it gets within range, and once again the result is BIG."

"You get the impression that either ship could be destroyed by just a handful of hits with these weapons."
AWESOME! Finally some futuristic firepower!

BIGGER is not always better.

Nor is "smaller" or "old-fashioned" or "traditional."

Also, why would Pike be taking the test?

True. Pike would have been an Academy cadet in the 2230s or early '40s at the absolute latest based on his supposed/conjectural age in the original TOS episodes where he appears. Kirk took the test around 2254. By that time Pike was already in command of the Enterprise and had been for at least two or three years.

Does anyone on this board have any idea just who this 'Mr. Atoz' is? And why is he getting a look at this movie?

At least Knowles' reputation preceeds him.

Pike may no more be taking the test than Spock, Sulu, and McCoy were in TWOK.
As Devon pointed out, the real question would be why we'd be seeing shots from outside the ships. Easy answer. Could be what the instructors are seeing in some control room. Simple [convoluted] logic. :vulcan: ;)

Actually, who know's what's going on from this report? I'm still amazed by how inconsistent the description was. There's no indication models were made for the movie, but the guy has a debate going now over whether what he saw was all CGI or models, too.
-- He gives detailed descriptions of the nature of the phasers, photon torpedoes, warping, the cargo ships, and such, but nothing about what any person looked like or what they were wearing (wouldn't this guy have recognized the actors?).
-- He assumes it's a bridge full of cadets. Why? Were they wearing uniforms like in the spy photos?
-- What did the baddie look like?
-- And while he said the Yorktown looked a lot like TOS style ships, what the hell did the Enterprise look like? That's the million dollar question. If it even was the Enterprise. If it isn't the no-win test, my guess, posted before, is it may be the Kelvin.

I am also curious who this guy actually is, and how he was able to get a little preview of the footage, and where?

If the bad guy in the ship-to-ship communication doesn't wear a fake plastic chest and a broken Starfleet emblem, I'll boycott this movie.

Time to bring out Good Ol' Vreenak, folks: DEBUNKED.

UPDATE: according to two trusted TrekMovie.com sources, the described scene is not in Star Trek. As noted above, this description was not posted by Knowles who has been to see footage at Paramount (something confirmed by the same sources).

Im actually not surprised to tell the truth, I just had a feeling about the way that little article was written.

A few things sounded fishy to me. I wouldn't be surprised if this is false... I just hope the bit about the incredible weapons is true. That's all. I can do without orange Planet Express ships and trapezoidal freighters hauling cargo pods with tractor beams.

Yellow/orange phaser beams can go to hell, too. I wouldn't want them to feel left out.

IIRC, the KM test we saw in TWOK saw a cadet in the centre seat, a cadet at coms and a few others at other back-stations, while Sulu was at helm, Spock, McCoy and Uhura were hanging around at the back...

Compare how the Enterprise moved in TWOK, or even in FC compared to Nemesis. Im sorry, but a ship that size would be manuverable in space, but it would not fly around like a P-51.

You are right, it wouldn't.
But then the Enterprise-E never did.
From an observer's point of view the ships zap around pretty fast considering impulse-speed.

...and accelerates remarkably slow when ramming Shinzon's flagship.

I liked how fast the Enterprise seemed at impulse in TMP when its pulling away from Earth and passing Jupiter, and also in TUC when it drops to impulse and heads in for Khitomer orbit.

Did Mr. Atoz see all of these scenes in one minute and could be able to describe in details?
The bad guy´s ship is attacking another federation ship and the convoy. Why? Is it a timeship or a battleship?
Sorry, but it is a fake.
