I went to see Manowar in the early 90s, most ridiculous thing I have EVER seen. They had about 150 amps stacked up behind them, which they could not possibly have been using in a 1000 capacity venue.
The bassist was wearing fluffy pink underpants, and had a broadsword hanging off his hip.
At the end of the gig, the bassist stood at the front of the stage and snapped his bass strings one by one with this agonised look on is face. I presume that he couldn't afford to smash the intrument
I can't remember too much more as I was horribly drunk for most of it, it was the only way to make it through.
