Another Finale Guest Star Uncovered!

Joining the legend that is Bernard Cribbins, is the legend that is June Whitfield!

And since the pair were seen shooting a scene together I'm thinking that she just might be playing Wilf's "girlfriend" Netty, who first appeared in the excellent Wilf-centric DW novel "Beautiful Chaos".

Not to sound like Gary Russell's PR guy but even if you never pick up another DW novel you should really get this one. As the only novel written by someone actually working on the show it gets to delve into the Nobel's backgrounds in a way other writers wouldn't have been allowed to.

opening this thread I though it about be about the Brig making an apperance, he is maybe the one person RTDs has not bought in Doctor Who (he did for SJA but not Doctor Who)

Her playing Netty would be cool, however it could prove tricky for those who have not read the book.

No need to mention it at all. She's just Wilf's special friend and that's all the information anyone needs really.

and if she hadnt meet the Doctor during the book I would agree, I should read the last few chapters again, see exactly how it ended for her.

Oh, good. I thought she was some character from a past Doctor Who that I was somehow shamefully forgetting.

The UK really seems to know who its celebrities are, huh? I can't follow any of it over here in America. Everyday some idiot is mentioned to me that I'm supposed to know from some dumb show or movie. Tiring.

Now you know how us Brits feel sometimes on the rest of the bbs! ;)

I think it's probably the small country factor. We're the same in Canada, we tend to cling to the celebrities we have. ;)

June Whitfield's great. She's never one to take herself seriously. She looks very glamourously dressed in that shot. Various sources have her dob down as 1925. She's looking great for a lady whose age we won't mention. :techman:

I think she might have been in Dinnerladies as well, if you know what that is.

Could she be the companion in the third special as well? As RTD has stated that the third special, the Doctors companion is someone in their 50's-60's, I see that as a good motivation plot to go see Donna again. He accidently bumps in to Wilfs girlfriend, at the end of the episode she states she wants to go see her boyfriend, The Doctor, unknowningly goes to see Wilf.

Is she going to tell the Doctor he *really* needs to start one of those savings plans to pay for an imminent sendoff? And that he'll get a free pen and everything...

She could try to sell him one of those walk-in baths.
