Another Daedalus

My conception of the Daedalus class, as derived from a side elevation of the NX-01. (Larger version here.)

I intended to show early progression between the NX type and the USS Kelvin. This Daedalus design has a relatively small secondary hull, and large engines. The window and airlock detailing indicates that the ship's size is roughly 296 m, which makes its engines vastly larger than those of the NX-01 (diagram below). Presumably, the relative size of the engines relates to some new development in warp technology - possibly stemming from the technology shared by the new Vulcan government. I would imagine this ship is capable of Warp 7.2.

I had a lot of fun producing this image, even after several frustrating hours spent trying to work with a line-drawing version.

Looks nice but the bottom of the Sphere is blocking your Nav deflector it seems :)

Thanks. :)

I considered that while laying out the design, but concluded that the deflector can't be fully directional. The NX-01 frequently made given the high-speed turning maneuvers despite lacking shields; without a deflector capable of non-directional protection, that should sometimes have resulted in catastrophe.

Just throw the deflector in a mild recess on the sphere, then smooth out the connection between your tub and sphere with a systems-strut and you're good.

Gee- I'm really not too keen on Daedalus remakes- however I bloody well like yours! It's really neat... I would just drop that deflector. Say it's hidden in the front of the sphere. There's no rule that states we have to actually see it.

^ The Miranda/Soyuz would support that.

Great looking version of the "flying buttplug". Best looking one I've seen, in fact.

I'm not a fan of the sphere. I don't know if it's the lighting or what, but to me it looks like you took the Death Star and whacked it with a hammer several times.
