ANOTHER Ambassador Concept! :-)

In this thread of Starship Modeler's Discussion Forums, poster Jason Abbadon has completed the construction of a 1:2500 scale model of yet another concept for the Ambassador-class starship.

This version of the ship also seems to be based on a combination of Andrew Probert's profile sketch and color rendering. The engineering hull and nacelle pylons actually seem to jibe a bit more with the color rendering than Probert's current 3D rendition of the ship.

Of the three Ambassador concepts (Probert's evolving design, Sternbach's "canon" design, and this model kit), I still prefer Probert's evolving design, but all three are quite interesting and fun!

Is it just me, or is Probert's design better looking than any of the others, including the Galaxy-class 1701-D?

This one is interesting, though the 'ribbed for your pleasure' saucer underside is a bit jarring.

I don't care for this paticular design. The nacelles are too tucked in, the ribs under the saucer, and the hull faces on the front/deflector area.

This is a model kit that was put out based off of the side view drawings from Mr. Probert, I think it was. Concept art stuff. The kit should still be available from the Starship Modeler Store.

I too can't wrap my mind around the nacelles being tucked in so tightly, though the kit has been put together quite well obviously.

I don't at all care for the nacelle placement or flattened deflector area, I'm sorry to say. It doesn't get much better than the USS Yamaguchi to me, though I do like THIS design for the aft dorsal a little better, and I prefer the Enterprise-C's blue impulse exhaust.
