I wanted to get an honest assessment of pirated Trek media from users of this site. To avoid anyone having access to names or accounts, I've set up a survey over on SurveyMonkey. Nothing too detailed, just four questions. Please take a few seconds to hop over and be honest.

I think it's highly unethical for anyone to pirate this movie. It's available in thousands of theaters around the world. There's no excuse for it.

I saw it at the cinema 2 nights ago.

I'll probably be downloading the TS copy to review tomorrow or the next night.

I have been thinking about seeing the movie a 2nd time at the cinema...BRING OUT THE DVD'S NOW :scream::scream::scream::scream::scream: or I might need to D/L it so I can watch it every night for the next 4 months

You should have a question about have you seen the film at the cinema and D/L it and then in what order.

I have bought every thing I ever downloaded. I even have some series still in shrinkwrap because I have not rewatched them since downloading and probably won't (not Trek), but I do not wish to steal people's creative work. I make these choices because I live in a country that sucks as far as tv goes and often aborts whole series to replace them with another for years at a time.

That said, I will wait for the dvd. The anticipation is not something I'm going to forego.

Jax: that's a great point. I don't want to change the survey in mid stream, but I will remember that for later surveys. Thanks.

I saw the film in New York City, and the next day some panhandler was trolling the subways selling pirated (meaning, they most likely made it by sneaking a camcorder in) of it. Of course nobody took one, thank God.

Have they announced a release date for the REAL DVDs?

I have already seen this movie three times in the theater, I will undoubtedly see it again at least twice. That having been said, if I came into possession of a copy of this movie, I would probably watch it until the dvd comes out, and not feel at all guilty.

I will and have paid for it, and will again. In the meantime, let me alone to obsess over every detail.

You can make the same claim about Wolverine, yet that didn't stop people (including fellow posters) from downloading it.

Yeah. I have this big thing about pirating movies still in theaters. I mean, I don't like it when people pirate anything, but this in particular. Respect on many orders of magnitude tend to lessen for those who do. Which is generally why I don't ask.

Which is exactly why I did this survey on SurveyMonkey (which is anonymous) rather than try something here. I don't want to know who I just want to know how many.

And yes, I will post the results here after it's been up for a few days. So keep those answers coming.

Saw it on a local theater. I was going to download a copy from BT until the DVD was released, but the quality sucked so much that I decided to just wait.

I've seen the movie 3 times and want to see it one or two more times. I've brought people along that wouldn't have usually have seen it.

I think I have the right to download the illegal copy, and I didn't P2P it so I guess its "ok".

I'll be interested in those results.

I've seen the film twice at the cinema, will likely see it a third time in a fortnight or so and will be buying the Blu-Ray release. If there was a DVD-quality torrent out there I'd go for it, I can only tolerate cams for shitty films like Transformers.
