News Anjli Mohindra to Star in Big Finish "Rani Takes on the World

The Rani has been hiding in Rani? Did we ever see a fob watch?
Well, that has been a long-time fan theory...

But honestly, I just rather see Rani outsmart The Rani. :D

I actually like how the Farewell, Sarah Jane story left things with Bannerman road and K9. I would actually really like it if that was still the story of Sarah Jane's funeral. And I don't ever want to know how she died. I know that her death will have to be brought up at some point during this series, but I hope they just bring up the simple fact that she's gone and don't get into the details.
Agreed 1000%. I weep every time I watch it. The perfect conclusion to Sarah Jane's story.

Given how busy Anjli Mohindra is on UK TV these days, though, I wonder how many volumes of Rani we're likely to get.
Well, that David Tennant fella is pretty busy, too, and yet we've been tons from him, too. ;)

Tennant has been unusually available due to the pandemic, when he banked a lot of the stuff BF have been releasing recently; before that he did a three-episode box set every 18 months or so. I wouldn’t count on the current pace once BF run out of that backlog.

Curse you, Turtletrekker. I had to go watch "Farewell, Sarah Jane" again and I'm crying all over once more.

That's a fair point. Still, he's made it very clear he's willing to record whenever he has a chance and Mohindra has been no stranger to Big Finish the last few years, too.

It's the "reunited" part that suggests to me that they grew apart. Unless it just means the actors are reunited.
I think they mean the actors but I could be wrong. Well, only time will tell.

I'd like to see Rani (or Gita) tear into the Rani for her cultural appropriation. :D
That would be great, too.

Yup, I saw that a few months ago. What a couple!

...which makes me want to see them on Doctor Who together at some point. That would be brilliant.
I've met them both and they are extremely nice.

I spent quite a bit of time talking with Anjli one-on-one on two separate occasions. She's absolutely adorable in person. The most recent time she had a big smile when said that she travelled to LA with Sacha.

It was actually thanks to a previous boyfriend who got her job as Queen Skithra on Doctor Who. He appeared as another character in that episode, but I don't recall his name. But I guess he's history now!

I would love to see her back on Doctor Who as a companion. Maybe with RTD that becomes more likely?

I think RTD must be constantly resisting the urge to tie up loose ends with this gift of a second time at bat, with fifteen more years of TV production experience (and his own studio) behind him. As SJA never got a proper sendoff, nor Torchwood for that matter, would he do an episode or two wrapping each up? He's got plenty of new ground to break with Ncuti, and I'm sure he'll be trying to give us more additions to the franchise than revisitations.

I expect doing any kind of sendoff for either series on Doctor Who these days might be problematic since there's no way to get the lead of either show, what with Lis Sladen being dead and John Barrowman being persona non grata.

I hope you're right about that last part. I wouldn't mind seeing one episode each to wrap up SJA and TW, but I'd like it to be mostly new. Unfortunately, we seem to be in an era where long-running franchises ride very heavily on rehashing their own pasts. We'll have to see if RTD can resist that.

Anjli Mohindra and Daniel Anthony were just as much the leads of SJA as Sladen was. And you could say much the same about Eve Myles on Torchwood.

I'm way behind in my Big Finish listening so haven't been ordering anything lately but this is very tempting.

For those who haven't seen it Mohindra and Dhawan are on the Behind The Sofa feature together on the Season 8 blu Ray set and it's an absolute joy to get their reactions to classic Who.

I'd love it if Mohindra and the other SJA 'kids' could feature in Behind The Sofa for Liz Sladen's first season.

At first, I thought the character Suki on the recent episode “Praxeus” would turn out to be the Rani…

I think he meant it would be nice for Rani to appear.
Yup! You could barely recognize Anjli in that one. Apparently, the reason she appeared as the Queen was because her boyfriend (at the time, not Sacha) was in it as another creature and somehow he was able to help get her in. She said it was his suggestion.

But, yes, having Anjli appear as Rani would be nice.
