Animals in Trek Lit.

I'm a big animal person, and I was just wondering if there are any Trek books/comics with animals. I don't mean animal like aliens, but just regular animals like dogs, cats, horses, birds, or made up animals like targs and sehlats. I know A Time For War, A Time for Peace had a bit with Worf getting Spot after Data's death, and we had a story about Porthos in Tales from the Captain's Table. Are there any others? They don't have to be the focus of the whole book, or story, even if it's just a couple scenes with Data and Spot, or Archer and Porthos I'm happy. Do we see Porthos in the Rise of the Federation, does Data have Spot now that he's alive?

Well, there's Gary Seven's black cat, Isis, who appears ASSIGNMENT: ETERNITY.

And I have a short story about Data's cat in the STAR TREK: AMAZING STORIES anthology.

Do we see Porthos in the Rise of the Federation

From time to time, yes, although he's getting pretty old by now.

A character in Over a Torrent Sea is dealing with the death of a pet, because I was doing so as well while I wrote it.

I forgot about that one.

I totally spaced, and forgot about Isis in Euegenics Wars Book 1, which I am reading right now.
I was just looking at the "pets" page on Memory Beta, and it looks like there's quite a bit about Pike's horse from The Cage in Burning Dreams.

There was a fairly Spot-focused story in the TNG anniversary anthology, though I forget the title.

Oh, yeah, the horse is a big deal in BURNING DREAMS . . .

The artist must've accidentally omitted the antennae from the illustration of the zabathu. ;)

Well, we don't know that every lifeform on Andor has antenna. Indeed, "Andor: Paradigm" (in "Worlds of DS9") has the Andorians questioning if they were, in fact, native to the planet/moon because they don't have the same genetic markers as all other local native life, and so there is a quest to locate a particular legendary plant to prove/disprove the theories.

Worf getting Spot after Data's death
Bloody hell, how old is Spot now then, 30?

She did spend time as an iguana.

In the humorous book Warped that was released a few months back, an "episode" of the 8th TNG season had Spot merged with a tribble. Silly antics ensued.

In one of the older Star trek TNG books Worf's son Alexander had a Hamster as a pet. I'm sorry I can't remember the title right now I did read the book several months ago.

Do any of the books ever deal with Kirk and Picard's horseback riding, or Spock's Sehlat I-Chaya from Yesteryear?
