Andrew Probert teases us with his SotL 2009 painting!

Cool unis. Sorta TMP, and sorta TOS.

Given this artist's recent work on his Captain's Yacht (in his 2007 SotL calendar entry), one wonders whether this might be a portrayal of that ship planetside, landed near say, SF Bay?

It's a boat, and that's water in the background.

Why?
Star Fleet HQ is on San Francisco Bay. Any parking apron must by default be NEAR the water. It could very well be a new Shuttlecraft or scout ship. The water is, like you say, in the background. The vehicle isn't IN the water.

Oh, it's just a guess. A Starfleet boat would be something we really haven't seen before... other than the aquashuttle in TAS. The edge we can see looks kinda like the front of a speedboat or something. But yes, it could be a new shuttlecraft... or a submarine... or fighter... or Tilt-A-Whirl...

Looks like it's 24th century, with the oval behind the insignia on the ship and the late-DS9 insignia on the uniforms. I'm thinking it's possibly a submersible for deep-water exploration.

Hmmm...

It isn't a water craft... review Forbin

Those uniforms are very TMP.

Andrew-

An obvious ploy at misdirection...

I still think it is a boat... although a Tilt-A-Whirl or parade float are still possibilities.

*Smacks ALL Americans in the name of Canada*

I'm sure it's just a shuttle sittin' on the dock of the Bay, wastin' time.

...Or the Enterprise-E being welded together at San Francisco bay.

How about a hopper or a sphinx. Although I vaguely remember that the sphinx was already CGI'ed for some kind of book or calendar.
