Andrew Koenig is missing.

According to news reports and friends, he was due to return from Vancouver on the 16th; he never did. Last time he was seen was on the 14th in Vancouver.

I've known Andrew for about a year now; I met him through a mutual friend at a comedy improv show they do. He's funny and clever and has been a good friend. Prior to this I'd worked with his sister on a reality show. They're good people and it is heartbreaking to see everyone so worried.

To anyone in Vancouver, his friend Jenny posted this on Facebook:

"If you have seen him, emailed him or had any contact after the 14th/15th or spent time with him during his stay in Vancouver and the police HAVE NOT contacted you yet, please call Detective Raymond Payette and his phone is 604-717-2534 and provide the information you have. Please do not call 911."

I dropped a line to a couple of friends who work in the TV industry in Vancouver (she's an actress, and he's worked as a propmaker on the various Stargate shows), and they've forwarded it on to their local friends in the industry.

I was out with a bunch of the guys from the comedy improv show last night and we all remain hopeful that Andrew is just off on walkabout or something -- which wouldn't be too out of character for him. Still, it would be awfully nice to find him.

Well, somehow 005, word has gotten out. One of our local new stations here in the Buffalo, NY area (WIVB-Buffalo) just aired a story about Andrew being missing since Valentine's Day. The story also mentioned that he's the son of Walter Koenig of Star Trek fame. I hope he's found well and that this is some sort of misunderstanding.

Police Hopeful Andrew Koenig is still alive.

Canadian Police issue release; Believe Koenig still in Vancouver Area.

Lots of little tidbits since yesterday about all this. Andrew's ATM card and cell phone were used after his supposed disappearance on the 14th, and believe he is still in the Vancouver area.

"Cell phone and banking records up until the time he disappeared lead police to believe he is still in the Vancouver area. There has been no cell phone or bank activity since February 16th when he was last seen in south Vancouver.

Police are still hopeful that Andrew will be found alive and safe."

Again, it's not too hard to imagine Andrew going off on a walkabout like this. I sincerely hope that is the case.

Just saw some extended coverage of this on CNN. Apparently, one of the commentators knew him years ago in some Vegan/Peta project. She had nothing but kinds words about Andrew and she talked about how worried the parents are. I hope some news comes soon; it's all rather worrying.

The phone had no activity from the 14th until the 16th, when it received a text. They know who texted him, but it doesn't help.

The phone has been shut off since.
