I just realized I haven't posted my thoughts on the last episode yet. The prison break sequence was great, there might not be a ton of action in this show, but it really knocks it out of the park when we get it.
I think "I can't swim" is going go right up there with "Luke I am your father" as one of the greatest in the franchise.
Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard both gave phenomenal performances in this episode.
Mon Mothma refusing to set her daughter up with the other guy's son was a nice character moment for her, and kind of nice counter to Luthen's do whatever is necessary attitude.

Ok so the prison story - how exactly did the empire think they would cover-up the prisoner transfers? They do know the prisoners talk, right?

They were supposed to be transferred to another prison, not just another floor in the same prison. Presumably in this other prison everyone knows they're never getting out and the only motivation they have to continue working is to continue living.

Either that or the next prison they get transferred to is more the sort of dumping ground type place where the prisoners more or less run around unsupervised, creating a kill or be killed environment. Maybe a small planet or moon where prisoners are shoved into an escape pod, sent down and fend for themselves right away.

Good point. More secure doesn't necessarily mean more guards. The best guard is outer space.

Indeed, and in this situation, who cares if they talk about being at another prison and instead of the freedom they were promised, they were sent here instead? Everyone knows they ain't escaping this one, and with no guards on site there's no one to revolt against.

If you haven't read my previous posts, why do you assume that my only problem with "Andor" is that it isn't about the Jedi, the Sith, princes and magic? Why didn't you just backtrack and see what my issues were?

There are 54 pages in this thread so far and drama isn't worth it.

Although "Rogue One" had Darth Vader in it and "Solo" only had Maul in one of its last scenes, both movies had featured very little about the Force. But I enjoyed both films very much. I have enjoyed a good deal of "Andor". But I have my complaints about the series, just as I have expressed my complaints about other Star Wars productions in my reviews and posts elsewhere. I'm getting tired of this attitude that no one should be complaining anything about "Andor".

Yeah, you won't get that from me. I'm all for healthy criticism. I'm not an Imperial. Spewing vitriol is another matter – that's just tiresome – but it's different strokes for different folks, and this is a fan site to share different opinions after all.

We can't all be in love with maniacal killers or fan service that doesn't feel natural in the story.

This story is literally about key figures in the Rebellion that toppled the Empire. I think the maniacal killers running said Empire do naturally fit in there well enough. This isn't a tale about organized crime or a missing ship or a family torn apart by a vengeful droid. The closer we get toward the end of the story, the more nimble the writers will have to be not to include Vader and/or other familiar characters. As I said, I'm not opposed to that either. But some of the "rancorous" stuff said on here is rather daft. All just depends on what approach they'll take next season and we'll all just have to wait and see to find that out.

As characters? Sure. As presented in the film? Nope. The scene completely yanked me out of the film, a distraction in the worst way.

He said Easter Eggs or something.

If he comes back again, then he wasn't a cameo. I doubt we've seen the last of him.

Okay, here, the real conundrum come awards time:

Who gets the Emmy, Serkis or Skarsgaard?

I mean, Jesus. SW as a franchise almost doesn't deserve the quality these two bring to the screen.

I will be very surprised if Skarsgaard or anyone else in the science-fiction/fantasy genre gets nominated for an Emmy. Very surprised. After all, Antony Starr of "The Boys" has never received an Emmy nomination. The "Game of Thrones" franchise seemed to be the only exception with Emmy voters. I don't know why. Perhaps it's more drama than sci-fi/fantasy.

Really? I don't see how. I didn't find it that mind blowing nor at the same level of Luke Skywalker discovering the true identity of his father.

If you google Andor easter eggs you'll see there have been plenty of articles talking about the show's so-called easter eggs.

I suspect the series will probably receive accolades from the Hugo Awards or Saturn Awards, like "Obii-Wan Kenobi". Anything to do with the science-fiction/fantasy genre.

When it comes to fan service I always expect it to win out. I hope to be wrong, but I lack the confidence you have. So, yes, I guess I'll see. You already know, apparently.

Because we're 83% into a season and the sensibilities and intent of the show are very, very clear at this point. Your expectations are based on nothing and you're ignoring everything you've seen thus far if you truly believe "fan service will win" in this instance.

Fan service-y shows announce themselves at the outset. It's not a surprise that "Mandalorian" was a fan service show, we knew it was going to be before we even saw a single episode.

The reverse is also true.

Major awards shows are, in fact, decided by peers in the entertainment industry.

And that exactly why those awards mean less than they should. Anything genre doesn’t get the cred it should. Same thing goes for comedy, horror, and others too btw not just stuff with spaceships.

Maybe as the older generation continues to die out and the nerds continue to inherit the Earth. There are a lot more genre fans today and more really good genre stuff out there now than in the past.

I don't "believe" it will win. I am waiting to see what happens. That's it. Nothing more, and nothing less. That is literally what "I'll see" means. I am not sitting there going "Oh, I'm so afeared of fan service that it ruins Andor for me." Andor has done itself just fine as far as being OK by my measure. However, I do not say there is no way fan service can't happen, so I will not rule it as a possibility, no matter how slight.

My only expectation is possibility. That's all. That this is offensive to people staggers my mind.
