And the Next Cancelled Show is...

I recently thought about the possibility of this TV series being cancelled. There is no official situation yet. But Netflix does not open any work that has a drop in viewership in the second season. If the viewership had dropped in the third or fourth season. Or if it was a book series that they did not want to lose the rights to, they would have lowered the budget and continued it for another 1-2 seasons.

But now we can watch old Dutch face a fight he hasn't had since he was young. He is called because a bunch of young hotshots can't stop the Predator. They need the old wise warrior to teach them how it is done.

Pretty sure he filed a report on his actions during the original encounter. If the young people can't figure out mud and blunt objects, then an old guy isn't going to be any help.

Warner Brothers Discovery is being cancelled. Discovery is being spun off with most of the debt, CNN, sports, and some free to air channels worldwide. The announcement uses different names, but Hollywood Reporter expects one company will be called Warner Brothers and the other company Discovery. Unfortunately, Zaslav will run the Warner Brothers entity.

Sony owning WB would be bad because: lots of terrible movies about obscure Superman villains.
But also good because: Batman/Spider-Man crossover film.

Actually I think the only thing that could save Sony's superhero movies right now would be to buy another company that knows how to make them. Sometimes.

I'm not surprised. I thought first season was fun, but I never felt like the show was really a must-see. I'm working through the 2nd season now, and honestly it feels like a bit of a chore as it already feels uninspired. This is the kind of show they would have had trouble sustaining, and I'm surprised it even got a 2nd season.

Fubar getting canceled would probably be good for Monica Barbaro's career now that she's an Oscar nominee. Maybe Top Gun will bring her back too.

Kinda feeling that way too, but I'll finish it off.

Yeah, I've already decided not to continue with news of its cancellation. There are better spy comedy/drama series on Netflix. The problem is how silly the scenarios are. They're supposed to be CIA operatives, but none of them aside from possibly Arnold himself convey any sense of being in the CIA.

The episode I stopped at was the one where the black guy is stuck in the drone. The blond lady then takes remotely control of the drone and has it take off. The drone kind of looks like a space shuttle and I'm assuming it's supposed to be an unmanned drone, yet there's a seat with controls inside. Uh not super realistic in any way and it just makes me roll my eyes at this point. It's too bad because I do like Arnold in this, but it felt like he deserved better.

The other issue is how this dropped. No fanfare. It's a symptom of streaming services in general, but especially problematic with Netflix, and it seems to suggest to me they had little faith in it to begin with. But being produced by a major studio (I think it was Universal Studios), it's a little odd.

I was thinking the X-37 (looking up more information, they were thinking of a manned one, but that hasn't happened?. The ones I'd previously heard about were definitely unmanned)

They were not trying to make money then.

It's about securing the rights, so that they can make real money later.

Of course Spider-Man III was a sincere attempt to make money, whereafter Sony shat the bed real hard.

Yeah, which had me super confused. It's like they were doing both. Manned and unmanned via an offsite control room. You'll see when you watch the episode.
