And the Next Cancelled Show is...

I know this a cancellation thread but if I may:
Tom Ellis is gonna star in a new show called CIA.
I can bet my bottom dollar that show's gonna go at least five seasons, 22 eps each, and never get it's name posted in this thread. :p

(Sorry, I'm so sorry)

Cheap to make bullshit for an audience that grew up without TIVO.

How would they remake Simon and Simon for the same generational audience, today?

If in the hypothetical sequel, the sons of the original Brothers are the titular characters... Then the new Simon and Simon are cousins, so you might as well be watching the new Dukes of Hazzard. Although if it's the sons of only one of the brothers, then there's maybe no fish out of water miss-match Country vs. City, bullshit and we are ignoring half of the legacy... So if the new show is maybe about the sons of both Simons from the 80s, two sets of cousins, then obviously the definitive private dick periodical for 2025 would be called "Simon & Simon & Simon & Simon".

Although....

If we wanted to woke the bastard up... Simon and Simon in the 1980s were not Brothers. They were big gay lovers, who pretended to be brothers, to avoid being lynched by the very homophobic local police force, therefore and thus, the new Simon and Simon could actually be about the miracle sons of the real Simon and Simon, and we can deepfake a flashback every week to show how Jameson Parker and Gerald McRaney were always playing grab ass and making out, whenever the camera was pointing at someone else in the original footage.

Make the Simon relatives identical cousins, more like the Patty Dukes of Hazzard. One is a world traveler, the other being stuck in one place. A return to sitcoms of the early 1960s.

WTF did I just read?
A Guy Gardener post. You'll get used to them.
He’s on that special blend of herbs and spices today.

I had no idea that show did narrations. Seems weird for a police procedure but I suppose it makes sense to those who watch the show.

Origins is a prequel about a young Gibbs that looks and acts nothing like Gibbs. Harmon narrates it like he is telling a story about his past.

It's actually a great show and period piece if you can forget it's him and just think of it like a different new character.

I'm sure no one even remembers that the original is a spin-off of Jag but by season 3 they could technically do crossovers with it, timeline wise.

It still does some case of the weeks but it is more of a character drama with some overarching stories then a procedural like the original.

Gibbs is also the least interesting character of the bunch. Franks is the most interesting character.

If this were Star Trek, there would have to be an episode to explain why Gibbs is taller than Franks in the past but Franks is taller than Gibbs in the future.

Franks is great in the prequel.

I only saw random episodes of the mothership over the years, so I don't really know him, just the early-main cast. I started slowly watching it from the beginning about a year ago.

I'm now in S3 of the original show, and have yet to meet him. I will be one of the only people ever that will think of the prequel guy is the real guy, and the older version as the replacement actor hahaha.

Its a bit jarring to see early NCIS episodes NOT having any angst over the dead family yet, even when encountering other sailors and agents that end up with dead families. The first two seasons are on a fun level tier all of their own. I miss Kate, badly. Not warming to Ziva at all yet.

and the fans would spend the next 50 years arguing over it.

Origins is more character based than the other NCIS shows, often times the cases are merely just window dressing for a character oriented storyline and there was even one episode which did not feature a case to solve at all.

the one that revolved around Mary-Jo was the ep that really clicked me into Origins being more character oriented than the original.

I like it, but I have to force myself to stop thinking of the new character as Gibbs. They aren't even remotely similar. As its own show separate from the "future" we know.... it is fantastic.
