And the Next Cancelled Show is...

What was the point of canceling S.W.A.T. for the third time if you're just going to make a spinoff with the lead character? Shemar Moore returns for S.W.A.T. Exiles but no one else is coming with him.

Don't know any of the casts salaries but it might just be to replace them with cheaper options. Also a change in story narrative. I don't know the show but maybe he and his new team will go on different kinds of missions.

Sesame Street had extremely limited options for who to pair up with next. Neither Disney+ nor Paramount+ needs them, so it was basically down to Netflix, Amazon, or pulling the plug. I'm glad to see the new episodes will premiere day-and-date on both PBS and Netflix; HBO's exclusive rights to new episodes never sat well with me.

It will air on PBS Kids in the US and on Netflix internationally.

^New episodes will air on both PBS Kids and Netflix in the US on the same day. During the HBO deal, PBS had to wait nine months after a new episode aired before they could broadcast it. For a show that got its start being targeted at poor urban kids (though that isn't necessarily the demographic anymore), it was bad optics to have new episodes tied up on a premium cable channel for the better part of a year.

Should have never changed the name to MAX and add all that reality tv junk. HBO had a respected image as the go to place for prestige tv and I am guessing made shows that didn't come with massive budgets, until Game of Thrones came along. They need to get the image back.

Yeah, what it did was dilute the brand. HBO was known worldwide, Max wasn't. So when they rebranded, they also lost a lot of visibility and momentum, IMHO.

It's surprising that they would cancel such a high-budget series that they care about. One wonders if they'll cancel Fallout after the third season, too. Although, from what I've read in the Wheel of Time articles, I think they couldn't agree on lowering the budget in the meetings with Sony.

Damn. That's a bummer. I would have liked to see them play out the rest of the story. Never read the books. Makes sense about the budget, though.

I know this a cancellation thread but if I may:
Tom Ellis is gonna star in a new show called CIA.
I can bet my bottom dollar that show's gonna go at least five seasons, 22 eps each, and never get it's name posted in this thread. :p

Episodic procedurals aren't very big here. We have a Law & Order thread but it's the same dedicated fanbase doing all the posting. No Chicago thread, no FBI thread, the Blue Bloods thread didn't last very long. NCIS is one of the most-watched shows in the world but regular internet users don't care. I suppose Elementary had decent traffic on here.
