I'll be shocked if Alert gets renewed on FOX.
The show spent its first season trying to be a cop show while also juggling the son of the two main characters that had been missing suddenly re-appearing and their daughter trying to prove he is not the real article. They also added in that the mother, the commanding officer, was dating another detective under her command.
The second season ended in their marriage, but again, juggled the cop show with a corrupt superior storyline.
The third season killed off the commanding officer in the second episode, right after she got married, as some kind of major shakeup. Her new husband, ex-husband, daughter, friends seemed distraught for maybe one episode before everything was back to status quo.
It does have a good buddy cop vibe with Scott Caan (the ex-husband), who spent the first two seasons being the stereotypical "we don't have time to play by the rules" detective, and Ryan Broussard (new husband). They have a third detective, who in the first season, laid really heavy into the "voodoo magic," but as with Caan, they've wound down the weird.
It's now stuck in this new phase, but still with all this baggage.
