And the Next Cancelled Show is...

Last edited:
'Inside baseball' is slang, it means that it's about details of the process too obscure to be interesting to anyone who isn't part of the business or curious about how it works.

Personally I am curious about film making, so I'm kind of annoyed to learn that they've cancelled it!

I thought it was pretty funny, all the backstabbing, and egos clashing, on set.

The one character I could not stand was Pat, the studio executive, an over the top, arrogant jerk. I'm not sure I could have stood another season of that guy.

I think that was the idea. He was the only one you couldn't stand?
I did too, at least the 4 episodes that I watched.

The whole thing about the Invisible Jackhammer was pretty good.
I don't know if you saw the episode, but I like when they blew up the wrong bridge. Then in another episode, they had to incorporate an obscure brand of farm tractor into the plot as product placement.

Elsewhere, I know it will come to a shock to you that Netflix canceled more shows than anyone else in 2024: https://movieweb.com/netflix-canceled-the-most-shows-in-2024-according-to-study/

the situation is probably going to get worse with figures showing that Americans are now spending less on the streaming services.

In the early days cord cutting was cheaper the cable subscriptions but now when you've got to have multiple sources to get all the shows you want to watch and it's all adding up.

Not to mention the colossal pain in the ass scouring through all those streaming services to find that one show that may or may not exist and, if it actually does, you might have to pay an additional premium on top of your monthly charge for the privilege to “rent” the show or movie you want to watch for a limited time. It’s all a fucking rip-off, honestly.

Yeah, even moreso if you live in a different country where all these shows are scattered across multiple services and are not found where they technically should be due to already existing deals in place to have them aired elsewhere. I find living in Canada can be very frustrating in that aspect. All promotions via media tours will tell you, watch A via B, but often A won't be found on B , and most likely B won't be available, or if it is, will very stripped down version that don't include most things. And bonus points if you happen to find it before it ends up being pulled from the service.

Very true - international licensing adds an extra dimension of headache to an already cumbersome situation.

Anyone remember when we were told that technology would improve our lives? I’m still curious where that lie originally came from.

Worse yet, is that the websites that are supposed to help you find out where to watch something such as JustWatch are sometimes out of date. The end result is that most of the time when I'm interested in watching something, I have to do research to figure out if I even have access to it because that information is not easily disseminated. Where can I watch it? That information should be simple; it's not.

Case in point, when season 4 of Snowpiercer was released, there was conflicting information arising about where it would be available for Canadians, where most articles said AMC+ as that's where it's available for most. But that's not correct. Instead of being on Netflix like it was for the international market with the previous seasons, after a deep dive, I found out it was available on Crave. I checked Crave, but due to a glitch, it's not showing up for me.

Where is my damned replicator?

You still want one, even after they explained that a replicator is only a poop manipulator?

After wwiiii, I doubt the Vulcans quickly attempted to explain food synthesizers to the feral rabid humans divorced lo the last 30 years from civilization, were offered magic food boxes to replace cannibalism.

It would have taken years to rebuild the Terran agricultural complex, during which time millions would have died waiting for grain they would not have known what to do with.

I want the 24th Century model. No poop required.
