Yup, exactly what you said.Even Netflix is pretty bad at letting people know about new stuff. Yes, there's the new releases section showing new TV shows and movies and top 10's of each, but because they have so much new stuff every few weeks, it's almost impossible to keep up with it all, so lots of stuff just gets buried and cancelled. And it's frustrating to hear a show get cancelled before I even get a chance to get to it. And the other issue is that if a show does get renewed, it usually takes so long for a new season to come out that I've forgotten what happened in the first season. There was one instance of a show I liked and couldn't wait for a new season, and by the time it did release, I ended up giving up on it because the recap was awful at recapping what was important and lost interest.
Take Squid Game for example. Netflix's biggest hit ever, bigger than Bridgerton or Stranger Things for a time.
S1 came out in Sept 2021.
And now S2 is coming out Dec'24, THREE years later!
It could be a hit again but seriously three years gap between seasons is just too fucking much.
All these corps got money to burn but never capitalizes on the more popular stuff.
