Yup, I saw that news the other day. A relief that the fourth is being made (as I figured) but it's still scary that they had to shut down thanks to that heat.

There's something a little too on-the-nose about a show called Snowpiercer shutting down because of heat.
According to Deadline, HBO Max has canceled something called 'The Gordita Chronicles' after its first season as well as all of its other live-action kids and family programs.
And ironically enough, the last season had them trending towards a warmer climate....
It sounds like the Discovery/Warner Bros merger is turning into a real bloodbath; in addition to all the shows mentioned above, the new management has shitcanned the Batgirl movie (originally intended for HBO Max) even though they spent $70-90 million on it.
It's pure insanity over there. If I was stockholder, I'd been dumping everything. There can't be that much value in a pure "reality" TV programming block. Yes, I get they're stupid cheap, but come on. Fuck that shit.
If HBO Max turns into a reality programming block, I will be cancelling my subscription. I got the service for shows like The Doom Patrol. I read that the show had been renewed for a fourth season; I wonder if that will hold.

HBO Max turning into that would hurt the HBO name. People expect high quality with HBO. I actually don't see anything wrong with what is going on. They recently just hired Alan Horn.
They are just cleaning house, no doubt to make way with stuff they like better. No need to be tied down to what the last people were doing. With that said I do hope the Superman movie or series from Micheal B Jordan gets saved.

So does that mean that those of us who have HBO Max will automagically be enrolled in DSC+ too then? And probably get charged twice as much for the privilege. Jezus I hate streaming services...
People used to expect learning from the Learning Channel, discovery from the Discovery Channel, arts and entertainment from A&E...

QFT... I used to love A&E. Jazz brunch Sunday mornings, Classic movies and TV shows. Don't get me wrong. I love Forged in Fire and Gold Rush, but yeah.... No one wants that old kind of TV anymore.
I still watch Curse of Oak Island and Skinwalker Ranch. The former at least delves deeply into actual history of the Knights Templar and other theories based on real historical accounts and figures, although it can be frustrating sometimes with the total sum collection of discoveries in most episodes are a handful of rusty old nails and ox shoes. I've often found myself musing if their many drills and boreholes they've dug have long-destroyed the Ark of the Covenant, which is now in a pile of splinters 120 feet down. The latter is more easy to mock, as much of what goes on in Skinwalker Ranch appears completely scripted and set up with REALLY bad acting and shaky-cam footage to simulate frenetic action. You can turn the number of times "Dragon" (their feckless "security" stooge) licks the ranch owner's boots or fusses about digging on the property into a drinking game.
I really miss FaceOff (Sci Fi Channel) - it was one of the scant-few reality shows that actually showed people executing their plans in an artistic fashion with very little in the way of fake and/or manufactured drama. There was real skill and talent involved and I wish it was still out there.
A similar show, called "Hot Set" involved teams building sets based on prescribed design concepts - something I had an interest in early on in life - but it was canceled after one season, as it seemed a little too much of a tiny-niche kind of thing.
"Heroes of Cosplay" was another interesting show that effectively demonstrated artistic talent, but between the overblown egos and emos in the cast, it was damn-near unwatchable. It quickly died, too, under its own weight of millennial ennui. Are there that many broken people in the geek-sphere out there?

My concern was justified. There is talk about Doom Patrol, along with Harley Quinn and Titans, being cancelled. I learn about this from the Giant Freakin Robot.

The only 'reality' show I like or watch is SHARK TANK. You really do learn a lot there.
I hate that show if only because every time I see the name I have a brain fart and think it's going to be a documentary about George Lucas.
I hadn't thought about that but... yeah! Speaking of that, there IS actually a documentary going on right now about George Lucas and the OT called "Icons Unearthed: Star Wars" on Vice TV Tuesday nights. I had no idea the shitstorm Lucas and his crew went through to get the OT films made. It really is fascinating stuff and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in Star Wars or independent film-making.
