They should pull a Roseanne and pick up directly after season 4.
I wouldn't mind either if they ignored the last season of Dexter. I forget how the season before ended though. Is that the season that ended with Deb seeing him kill Colin Hanks? I do kind of like the idea of following that idea up in a better plus. Plus I do recall she was going their to tell him she was in love with him so the show had already went down some not so great choices even before the final season. To me the show reached it's peak with Rita's death.

On one hand they poorly advertised that this was a Bad Boys Spinoff, on the other hand I just want more dark Angel... On the other other hand Michael Weatherly has been Me-Too-ed.

True. Anyhow, I think a big factor is in what people were generally expecting. It's not a hard sci-fi, it's more of a sci-fi character driven drama with what we felt was excellent writing and character development. Those going in expecting something like The Expanse would be disappointed. But for what it is, it's been great watching as a family, and there aren't all that many that could be considered family shows on Netflix.
It wasn't perfect, but it had great potential.

It might not have had much scientific accuracy, but while my Dad normally nitpicks space dramas to hell, he was willing to ignore many of the mistakes because everything else about it was so compelling. The characters were interesting, the chemistry between them was good, and the writing was fairly good. It was refreshing to see characters treated as actual people and with flaws.
I've heard criticisms about the training and how they should have all been trained together and known each other before the mission. Well, yes and no. If you look at the ISS, you always have one group of astronauts in orbit awaiting a relief crew. The relief crew will arrive and spend several months with the current staff before that staff becomes the outgoing crew, so there is always a crew that will never have trained together and some astronauts might not have met before until getting aboard. This is especially true with astronauts via different nationalities that have their own training regimen.
When I recommended the show to others, I made a point of saying "It's not really science fiction. It's a drama, in a science fiction setting."
And I think if people went in with that point of view (and were interested in that) they would do fine.
Yeah, that's a good point. Or even maybe a drama with light sci-fi elements. Overall, it's much more about the human experience and the conquering of dreams. And I found the experiences they were sharing of being in space to be very relatable and actually quite realistic.
