And the Next Cancelled Show is...

Future man is a prime example of how to do sci-fi dramedy, the Orville made a noble attempt, but has ultimately settled on just being a sci-fi drama.

I could see Orville actually try and bring some comedy back next season due to the ratings decline. Not all the way back. I think the show will still want to due good character drama as well. The show is so good IMO and the characters being who they are actually work well in both drama and comedy situations.

Does anyone know (without spoilers) does it at least come to some sort of end or is there a cliffhanger ?

I read the spoilers so you don't have too. Having never seen the show, the article I read said it ends on a very big cliffhanger.

Thanks, it seems Syfy does that a lot.

I think the problem is like The Expanse, SyFy might only have the first airing rights and no one watches the show live. So everyone likes The Expanse, Happy! and Deadly Class watches it on streaming which doesn't help Syfy.

I guess that's good news and bad.

reading from the comments following the article there's some speculation that part of the reason for it being the final season is that Netflix produced season 4 etc but they don't have the full rights with the show and that could impact of thing further down the track.

Much like network TV if the network owns the show it's more likely to get renewed.

However Netflix has canceled like 90% of it's programing (it seems) so maybe they should keep something because as soon as my giftcard runs out I'm done with Netflix. I'll go to Disney.
