And the Next Cancelled Show is...

Per Mike O’Brien, A.P. Bio won’t be back for a third season.
I just finished season 2 of The Gifted only to learn it won't be back. Sucks. I was really curious about that seasonal cliffhanger with Clarice returning from the dead, or future (looked like), I wonder if they knew they were getting cancelled before filming the season finale. I would love for Hulu or Disney + to pick up the show.

I would have The Gifted to have a third season as well, but a renewal by Hulu or Disney+ seems unlikely. Its FOX ratings weren't strong and it may not fit into Marvel's future plans.

Season 2, which wrapped up back in February, averaged fewer than 2 million viewers and just under a 0.6 rating, dropping 40 percent from its freshman run. Among Fox’s 10 dramas, it delivered the smallest audience and only bested Friday newbie Proven Innocent in the demo. (Worse, its DVR playback boosts are neither here nor there.)

I’m really hoping that, when Disney+ launches, all the old “cancelled” Netflix Marvel shows like Daredevil and Punisher will suddenly resurrect for multiple seasons.

NBC also canceled Abby's, which I'm bummed out about. I really enjoyed the first season. I'm not surprised but I am little disappointed.

Would be nice, but I believe there was a stipulated 'non-compete time clause' in the licensing agreement. If memory serves, it will be something like 2 more years before Disney could resurrect the shows. Also take into account that Disney+ will be PG family friendly, HULU would be the more likely destination for Daredevil, Punisher or even Jessica Jones {which Netflix is sure to cancel after season 3 drops in a few weeks}.

Money helps, but Marvel screwed the actors, and the actors usually give a crap about he other 300 people on set, who were also screwed by Marvel.

It's probably easier for Marvel to start over, than to wade into all that bad blood, unless they already negotiated the release for the casts (and crew?) with Netflix (and the actors?) when they were closing down their relationship last year.

The Netflix Marvel shows are dead. I'd bet they can't even talk about negotiations for years because of the deal with Netflix. There might be a loophole for the characters to appear on other shows, like the new Disney+ shows. But everything about Disney+ makes me think Disney is done with them and moving on.

Yeah, logistically, it seems unlikely reviving any of the shows will ever happen. Creatively, I think most people want it to happen, but it'll probably not happen simply because real world complications.

It already was canceled. Before Netflix even announced the third season air date IIRC.

Per the agreement with Netflix, Marvel can't make any moves towards using those characters until after the two-year period is up.

When production was delayed until this year - and a "vibe" that I got from the season five finale, though maybe I was reading too much into it - I figured that the next season would be its last.

Silicon Valley
has had a good run, feels like it's time. Looking forward to the last stretch of episodes.

Yeah, with one of the main characters not being in the series last season, Erlich, who I felt brought some great energy to the show, it seemed like it was starting to wind down anyway. That said, I've loved the show and it did have a great run. In fact, I'm glad it lasted as long as it did as I had a feeling it wouldn't last past one season.

I wonder if they will address the Erlich issue. I mean the actor has gotten into real life trouble and even without that I think he burned some bridges with some of the things he has said about the show so I don't see him returning even for a cameo.
