And the Next Cancelled Show is...

ABC has cancelled The Wonder Years. I’m disappointed but not surprised given the shabby treatment it has been given since season one finished.

I liked it quite a bit, but I admit that I hadn't even known the second season was currently running. It felt like they weren't fully committed to it. I liked that overall it wasn't trying to be a remake, but something happening in parallel to the original, in the same spirit.

Yep. Season two had a short episode order, the season premiere didn't air until over a year after the season one finale aired, and four of the 10 episodes were aired on the same night - seemingly a burn-off.

Clarification: The four of the 10 episodes that I mentioned were aired over two different nights - doubled up episodes for the first two episodes of the season and the last two episodes. I realized my earlier statement makes it sound like they aired four episodes in one night.

And now HBO has cancelled Winning Time.

That was fast.

Although this one I get. The second season was a huge drop in quality. Seemed like one of those shows originally planned as mini series and then they tried to expand it after its success.

Still fits the pattern of HBO cancelling virtually every major show they have the last year as Zaslav breaks HBO down.

MAX is going downhill. Time to cancel that one. Too much content has been pulled.

It's the most cancelled service of the last three years thanks to Zaslav. More than a quarter of users have dropped it.

I’m going to binge Discovery Witches once I finish the Outsider and then cancel. Time to tighten the belt and buy physical media instead. I have 11 seasons of X-Files sitting in a box to binge. And Prime has a lot of old shows I want to watch again.

What is interesting is all the RL Stine adaptions.

Prime I am keeping right now no matter what. On top of the TV/Movie streaming the free music service is almost the same price as any other streaming service alone, plus the fast and free shipping and the free doordash deliveries/coupons (which I have only used when traveling, but still).

Crave (Canadian service close to HBO Max) I have because it's free with my internet and I trade it's login with someone else for Disney.

Netflix I have because I've had it forever and was getting a grandfather price for awhile but I don't think so anymore. I may cancel it as I re adjust my budget following my house closing next month. I hardly watch it anymore.

Apple I only have during free test windows and it doesn't have enough on it to tempt me anymore beyond them.

Paramount+ - Fuck that.

Then all the add on services to prime or in their own bundles.... No.

Tubi is one of my favs and it's free.

Hoopla and Kanopy come through my Library for free and aren't bad.

CBC Gem, another Canadian service, I have the free version of. Some decent stuff on it, I re-watched Slings & Arrows (which is about the Stratford Festival) before going to watch a play at the Stratford Festival.

Hoopla has the Woman in White that I want to watch.

I've canceled AMC+ (got it so I could watch Hullraisers) and Apple+ I've been enjoying Invasion, but it's the only thing I currently watch on it. I'll reconsider once I hear how season 2 of Severance is.

Dod Max REALLY have a lot going for it even before Zaslav? We only had it because it was free with AT&T. I have to check our bills...but it would definitely be one of p
our first services to drop.

Max has HBO. It should be doing great but Zaslav doesn't seem to value the HBO brand. I think he has long-term plan. I think he just wants to get them out of debt and turn it all over to cheap Reality tv and make as much money off it as he can before it dies and he moves on.

MAX was my go to during the pandemic. Now, it’s awful. Look at the top shows and movies. It’s all old stuff.

Apparently there was a Pitch Perfect spinoff on Peacock called Bumper in Berlin. And it was renewed for a second season. And now they've changed their mind and have canceled it.

Amazon has picked up Pantheon!
the second season will be released on October 15, 2023 in Australia and New Zealand!
