Something to keep the trolls busy another two years! Every snippet we learn will be pre-failed by all the usual suspects. Again and again...
I have no idea what form the next film will take. This 25-year-old Kirk in command? Spock and Uhura, in the wake of Vulcan's destruction? What state of mind will Spock even be in? Will Admiral Pike be out of his wheelchair and ordering the fleet around? Anything can happen.
I have high hopes!

I'm cautiously optimistic. Now that the whole origin of the crew is out of the way I'd like to see some character growth and a new story that isn't a remake, reimaginging or retread of what has come before. They've got a new universe to play with. Let's see them actually do something we haven't seen before. (Khan, I'm looking at you!)
It's going to be a multi-part story--first, Spock has to figure out a way to make the warp nacelles blue, then Kirk has a showdown with an omnipotent being who wants to use the E as part of the galaxy's biggest sombrero.
"What does God...need with a sombrero?" will become a rallying cry for Star Trek fans in the 2010s.
There will also be a length Powerpoint style discourse, led by Leonard Nimoy in a surprise cameo, proving with flawless logic that the Prime Spock that appears in the 2009 movie is, in fact, the same character that we've been for the last 45 years.
They'll use a book-ending device, with the movie beginning and ending with Kirk, Spock, and Pike trading different facts about Captain Robau, while toasting marshmellons around a roaring fire.
That should keep this place busy.
The "script" writers will stand back five feet from a blank wall and "shoot" silly string at it,
whatever drys in place will be the "shooting script."
I would like a story that has to deal with the origins of a lost alien race and their effect on the current timeline…something that may involve a quest style storyline along the lines of LOTR. I think the Preservers from TOS might be a good starting point…they effected the evolution of countless races in Star Trek’s universe. With a concept this big, there’s definitely room for making it a “message” plot the writers said they are looking for as well as an epic adventure.
The question of Khan, Bussard collectors, Klingons…seem small minded to me…definitely minor concerns, they need a fresh concept for a ST movie to use as a framework for the rest of the story. While it doesn’t have to be MY idea from the last post, something similar would make a spectacular movie that would have a different tone to the other movies.

If he is, he'd better not fall asleep onscreen. Then they couldn't call it Finnegan's Wake.
I don't think a Khan story would be all that bad. More along the lines of TOS's version though. They're out on the start of their 5 year mission and come across a deep space SOS beacon that leads them to the sleeper ship- and so on. Sounds like a decent way to start of the nu-"series". That could be pretty damned entertaining. Especially if they make it a 2 parter. Could be pretty intense.

I would like to see a story that has elements of what made the series so good. They are exploring some unknown world that actually addresses an issue relevant to the world we live in today. I would like to see the main characters of Kirk, Spock & McCoy have to come together and unite to overcome their own prejudices in order to "save the day" of whatever mission they are on.
You forgot to mention that both NuSpock and PrimeSpock will be shouting throughout the movie.

Agreed. Having more of the Kirk/Spock/McCoy interaction would be awesome and allow for more character development then was seen in STXI. I'd also like to see a new ailen race. Something not seen in Trek before.

It writes itself, how can they lose? Khan, no Khan, who cares? My only quandry is staying away from here so I don't get spoiled like last time.
