I'm not sure what you mean by that, but they ended up in that couple's bodies because that couple also possessed communication stones.

Oh, and Joe Mallozzi posted some clarifications on this whole debacle. I'm not sure how much his words are worth around these parts, but, well, here's the link:

Correct me if I am wrong here, but how is that an actual problem considering the episode seems to hinge on this ethical issue?

Personally, I think the idea is fantastic. Granted it takes a common sci-fi premise, but it is a fresh take on it and presents something that hasn't really been explored before.

I mean, I can see how it could be offensive if, in the episode, after Wray is returns to her body, learns what happened to it while she was "gone", and simply laughs it off or doesn't care. But judging from the comments presented about the episode in those links, I suspect that won't be the case.

I just mean that they didn't bother introducing these problems before when using the same device before is all.

And, if anything, Mallozzi should be at least taking some of the criticism in hand rather than tell people that they know better. But, maybe they've already made some changes to the script since it's not really a "final draft". :lol:

I read afterellen on and off and I think their problem is that many lesbians on TV never actually stay lesbians, so whenever they see a TV episode where a lesbian character ends up having wacky hijinks with a man, they chalk it up to badly written lesbian syndrome.

Also, they don't have a problem with bisexuality itself, it's just when a character is presented as a lesbian, they believe that she should stay a lesbian... which I would think is a fair enough expectation.

Sounds to me like they were well-aware of these issues before the fans got wind of the various bits of leaked info, and didn't need to take any criticism in hand with regards to the episode.

But frustration is evident when he refers to the casting call and leaked drafts. They screwed up there.
 
Honestly, based on past efforts, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have a clue what would be problematic about either of these characters - or at least the queer character.

But I agree that the proof is in the pudding. I'm waiting to be blown away by the episode and to be forced to eat some crow, which I will gladly do if this episode turns out better than the trainwreck I think it might be.

I'm constantly amazed by his seemingly 10,000 word long posts every single day!

It's nice that he responds to fan comments (in that childish way of his), and if he wants to fill his blog with an encyclopedia on food then ok it's his life, but doesn't he actually have any work that needs doing? Where does he find the time.

Well he has a ton of free time rehashing the old storylines to death.

Also what is so wrong with someone having sex with the gender they normally don't? People are too up tight about sexuality, I think everyone, not that they would ever admit it, has at least had thoughts about having sex with the gender they normally don't.

However this episode just sounds stupid, actually the whole body switch thing to me sounds pretty stupid.
 
What's the big deal? The lesbian character isn't in her body when the straight character has sex with a man, right? The body isn't gay or straight, it's just a body. Unless the lesbian character gets some kind of STD from the straight character using her body to have sex with a man, I don't see a problem. When she gets back to her body, she'll still be gay.

I'd say you'd have a valid point. However, considering the "Body Swap" device is featuring predominantly in the series, I wouldn't say this is a "technology of the week" story.

Saying that it is, by that logic, anytime they use the Stargate could be considered to be a "technology of the week" story.

Honestly, they've done the "Stargate gone wild" story a few times... and the only decent episode that I can think of with that concept was Red Sun (although, that Asgard ending leaves a little to be desired).

But, like I said though - if they actually had the bodies swapped for several episodes and basically exchanged the main cast members for more than 45 minutes, it would actually be interesting because Stargate and Star Trek has always neatly wrapped up these SF gimmick episodes within the 45 minute time limit, with everything turning back to the status quo.

Although, I could easily see them doing the predictable thing of having the dude lust over Ming Na's character long after the body swap happens and everyone goes back to normal. Yuck. :lol:

Would not this person still be unable to walk? After all, she hasn't walked her entire life, how would she know how to? The Ancient communicator doesn't give you access to your hosts memories. Daniel and Vala didn't know anything about the people they were in until they read the names. In fact, it was only because Daniel knew how to read Ancient they figured that out, the device didn't provide a translation for Vala.

According to the casting side the woman did walk as a child so I do thik she'd know how to walk.
