and my Mum won't let me go to Knebworth

Kill 'em and make another one. Obviously this one is defective in some way.

But that would involve having sex again ~ yuk!

I'm having Kevin and Perry flashbacks reading that

I dread when Zi hits that age as I know I was a bit of a bastard and karma already has a grin on it's face waiting to load it all on me.

I'd just echo the opinion of holding your ground, for your own sanity play nice and make sure he knows/thinks you're ok with it so you can communicate with him in some way and make sure he's alright.

Then come down on him hard. If the father can't be relied on (something I know of all too well with my GF's kids) get your man to back you up to be sure its not a one-on-one battle. Teens can be bastards in arguments (I was) and it's best to have backup.

My son becomes a teenager in three days.

I'm frightened.

Oh it's fun really :brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:

Thank you all so much for listening to me rant and for the advice.
I'm now waiting for him to get home. I'm not sure how this will go but it's definately time for the Klingon side of me to come out :klingon:

Really thank you so much all, it's 4am and there's no chance of me sleeping and I don't want to annoy man. So I'm here with 'Generations' and you lot, and tissues because I can't stop crying .

Got that takes me back. Mine's 25 now but as a teenager she was the original wild child. I aged 20 years in 5.

I have to side against you here K'ehleyr. I assume this festival is Sonisphere, at which Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Mastodon and Lamb of God are playing.

Keeping him from this epic lineup of several of the greatest metal bands still playing today is verging on inhumanly cruel :(

Agreed.

Perfect plan then - K'ehleyr should go in his place.

I do not oppose this plan. That actually would be the ultimate punishment, "Son, you're grounded, now excuse me while I go and see Metallica... ENTER NIGHT, EXIT LIIIIGHT!"

See you let him go...then have him paged every five minutes. And when he stops answering the page, you call the venue with a description all panicked and tell them you think something happened to him and he needs to be checked on so that they send security down to mess with him.

:guffaw: Even I could not be that cruel ~ or could I?

Thing is I really do want him to go, it is an awesome line up and would be his first proper gig. His fav japanese band - FACT are going to be there and he won't get a chance to see them again.

The sixteen year old inside me is saying 'don't be such a bitch ~ remember what you got up to' but the Mum in me is saying he's lied about this and I want him to understand that that is not acceptable. I got the bankcard back and it has not been used ~ also highly emphasised the fact that going through my purse is a *very bad thing* and not a way to build trust.

The meeting of 'the coven', with him present, have decided that it is up to him. He will have to come clean, apologise and be honest to all concerned, hold his hands up and say 'sorry I lied but I really want this' and see if he can convince us he can be trusted. It is going to be up to him to raise the money.

This is going to be his first 'adult' decision ~ if he is man enough to admit he messed up with his approach, build bridges with the people that he has hurt, and prove he can be trusted - then he can go with my best wishes to have a brilliant time.

Oh and I also need to talk to this Jonny's Mum.

I think that's fair ~ yes?

Oh and TGS ~ I would be tempted to ring and ask them to put over the PA "Buggle, you've forgotten your spot cream and your pokemon pyjamas, do you want me to bring them up?" ;)

Yes, I think that's fair, and a good approach.

I totally understand that you really do not want to take this away from him because it is such a great concert and very special for him.

I hope for his sake he figures out the best way to approach this - and doesn't do a Nero and blame you for not being able to go.

Funny. I can imagine my 27 year old saying this same thing.

...Take my hand ... Off to never-never land!!

Definitely.

Don't be surprised tho, if Jonny's Mum is not as interested in the well-being of her child as you are of yours.

This was some of my biggest problems with my son. Sure, he's going to do the same stupid juvenile stuff I did, nothing I can do about it - besides, it's a learning experience, right?

No, the biggest problems I had was apathy of the parents of his friends.

Console yourself with the fact, one day, he'll apologise for the way he's tortured you. My mother told me she did the same thing with my grandma. I know I've apologised to my mother for my teen years. He'll suffer with guilt when he gets through his teens, almost certainly. Expect BIG presents on Mother's Day.
