Ancient Stele found

Possibly better posted in miscellaneous unless there is a novel scientific aspect to the discovery. The stele dates from the time of one of the last native pharaohs of Egypt before the later Achaemenid Persian and subsequent Macedonian Greek conquests of the fourth century BCE.

I will have this moved then. I like the comments about this online about why does it look so clean?

The Stele of Thonis Heracleion found buried underwater for about 1000 years found and raised from the water. I love this kind of stuff and ancient things being found. Very interesting.
This article completely fails to mention that the discovery took place 23 years ago, despite using photos credited to the underwater archaeologist and team who did both discovery and recovery.

Why did they then only publish this recently then? They did fail to mention that important detail then hey?
When "discoveries" and other scientific finds hits the headlines, it often had occurred well before people see it in the news due to reasons (usually holding off for analysis, verification, etc). Which is why I tend not to get excited when there's a scientific headline on CNN or Yahoo despite being a science geek.
