An updated Star Trek fiction timeline

Oh what the hell....because it is Thanksgiving.....just wondering if any timeline oriented minds want to post about "Charlie X" and if it can possible happen on Thanksgiving.

Peace everyone.

In Germany, we have no Thanksgiving in the american way. So the text in this episode was changed to "painting the eastereggs" ;-)
So the whole episode would play in the other half of the year.

That is very interesting. I don’t have the details in front of me, but as Jay knows I’ve never been able to make it work with the details of the other novels in that period.

That... Actually works surprisingly well with my own timeline. Late March 2266... I just gotta move Open Secrets up a month or so. Not that it isn't used to that by now :D

Why would it take place at any other time? Kirk says that it's Thanksgiving on Earth. That seems pretty definite to me.

And not long after in "Dagger of the Mind," we meet Helen Noel, a character that Kirk met at the Enterprise Christmas party.

Several of us have tried to mesh that line with the chronological framework layed out in Vanguard, the Errand of... books, and a few others, and never been able to make everything quite work. It’s all layed out somewhere deep in the “A Litverse Based TOS Chronology” thread, though I don’t recall the exact conflicting facts off the top of my head.

Hi,

I am at work, so I gotta make this quick....but it gets into the concept of how polluted the FYM is and based on Okuda....how much can actually happen in a relatively short span. It really gets nuts when you try to do a bit of "Day Counting".....talk about a rabbit hole.

The American Thanksgiving takes place in late November while Canada has its Thanksgiving in early October. How do we know Kirk was not meaning October?

Late November would fit a little bit better, but only a very, very little bit.
Basically Harbinger happens in October, shortly after "Where No Man Has Gone Before". If we go by production order we have to put another five episodes between Harbinger and "Charlie X", plus (going by Voyages of Imagination) the three My Brother's Keeper novels (which have Enterprise return to Earth), a Captain's Table novel, The Landing Party from the Constellations anthology, and the three The Janus Gate novels. If we assume that Harbinger happens at the very beginning of October (which I'm not sure works) that would leave two months for eight adventures and a journey from the far-off Taurus Reach to the center of the Federation. That's quite a lot and I may be forgetting further complicating factors from Vanguard.

I’d have to look back to our discussion of this in the ‘A Litverse Based TOS Chronology’ thread, but I think there are some points from the Errand of... books that complicate things even more.
