An Unusual(ly) Sad Story

Consider that its not that they dont trust Data fully, its that they dont trust ANYONE fully.

They suspected something was wrong and investigated. Picrad faced soemthing analgous in 'Conspiracy'...with a phaser pointed at him.

Hmm... :)

So...

...in Q we trust?

Only if there's a little R & D to go along with him*...

After all the Data-is-taken-over tropey episodes, I'd probably find Q to be more trustworthy too.

* Get it? "R&D"? R-D-R-R!!! :guffaw::guffaw: Sorry, couldn't resist, I drank too much coffee an hour ago...

Maybe no apology is necessary. Data did his duty, followed orders to the letter. Picard and the rest of the crew did what would be expected of them, given the situation. Even Data admitted freely that he was guilty of court martial offenses, and that Picard's duty in the matter was clear.

And if an apology was warranted, I expect it was offered. Off screen, of course.

On the other hand they didn’t disassemble him after he hijacked the ship in the beginning of the season, impersonated the captain to issue commands, and almost caused the death of a child. All because he was an android and thus subject to being overridden by a control program.
