An open question...

Would you have preferred four strong seasons, or 7 typical seasons?

Many shows overstay their welcome, and either go down in quality or improve their quality and go out with a bang...(a positive bang, that is).

I think the best shows are short and snappy: The Prisoner, Daybreak (although, I have yet to see it)...and others I don't recall off the top of my head; although, those types of shows are few and far in between...i.e. short and snappy.

I'm typing while thinking about a million--no billion--things I have to do, so I may have some additional stuff to say later on...and as people post their thoughts.

Definitely a strong 4 over a weak 7. I'd settle for one great season.

Probably the right answer is that if you want to see more when you've finished watching all the episodes, they've done it right.

Personally, I'd rather see a strong 7.

However, if it's a choice between a strong 4 and typical 7, I'll gladly take the strong 4.

Does it matter? We didn't even get one strong, much less four strong seasons.

I would like to have gotten at least 5 seasons (Manny's plans sounded so promising :(), but I would have preferred 7 seasons.

I - Surak - propose new episodes of Enterprise should be on every day with mandatory viewings in schools. In addition girls should have their ears corrected at birth.

New episodes of Trek, daily, I agree. Though I see no reason why ear correction should be limited to the female of the species. Is there is a logical explanation for your suggestion?

Vurok, it is agreeable to meet you.
Surak's longing for an adequate female companion leads him to such suggestions.
It is only logical that the human species as a whole would benefit from an improvement to self image.

I'd argue we got two pretty strong seasons, but that's just me.

I agree.

With hindsight, I am surprised they (UPN) didn't give ENT a fifth season because of the addition of Coto as the new show runner. At least to see if the ratings came up.

I think we got two strong seasons and two average ones.

I'd take four strong seasons over seven average ones, although had the show continued, I think we would have got a strong Season 5 and an average Season 7, and Season 6 could be either, but probably strong.

This is why I like ENT more than VOY - I felt ENT did more in four years than VOY did in seven. Granted, ENT could be inconsistent, but it really felt like it took risks.

So far we had two average and two strong seasons. I think Enterprise would have hit a great stride with just two more seasons: Season 5 being more exploration and the first half of season 6 being the romulan war followed by the second half of how the federation came together.

Definitely, I really wanted to see more about the romulan war, and everything for that matter, but especially that. How is it fair to tell us - there's been a war you'll never see? :klingon:

Every show is different depending on the show-runners, but TNG (IMO) probably could have ended after Season 6...and maybe even DS9 could have also ended in it's sixth season. However, the 7th DS9 season provided some closure with the war and pah-wraiths; and TNG was believing its own hype and went for a 7th season, then jumped to feature films.

Granted with ENT, you might have needed the 5th season to make up for other seasons...as well as a final 6th season to give closure (as AMQ brought out); but if we had it to do over again, I would have liked maybe 4 strong seasons...

I like the way Babylon 5 had everything set (like a book, according to JMS) so that it had a beginning, middle, and end.

I think even the nuDoctor Who was somewhat like that...(emphasis on 'somewhat') with the 'Bad Wolf' storyline that started in the Eccleston era and ended in the Tennant era.

I'd prefer 7 seasons with 3 or 4 strong seasons. Enterprise didn't last long enough for me and I thought for the most part that seasons 1 and 2 were pretty strong though season 2 was a bit weaker than the first. Season 2 had a few more misfires.

I would have preferred to see them all strong, but that did not happen. There wsa no real direction in any of the seasons and they kept doing two or three part stories which was annoying in itself.

There should have been connections between Ent and TOS, showing how a lot of things came about and developed but there was very little of that.

What should have been a good idea actually turned into a failure. Even though this was not the best ST by any stretch ofthe imagination I still like the show.
