An Experiment

Wow these are great :) :techman:
Nice work! I've never been a fan of the Galaxy class, but these look pretty good!
That last one is Great!
At first, I thought it sounded like an odd thing to do, but you've really pulled it off... They look great!! :techman:
Thanks, guys! Doing this was a lot of fun. I'm glad to see that you're enjoying it. :)

It just screams 70's Star Trek paperback book cover!
Really? Do you have any particular cover in mind?

Nice. Personally, my favorite is the first one. Reminds me of one of the early sketches for the Ent-D:

Yeah, they certainly look similar. I guess that's mostly because of the smoother surface of the TOS ship which lacks the amount of detail of the Enterprise-D.

Oh, and I noticed that shortening the nacells on this one make it somewhat reminiscent of the Enterprise-C. Or am I seeing things?

What do you guys think?

Wow! This reminds me how much I came to miss TOS artistry once the movies and TNG came out. That hull sheathing and the lower saucer dome's glow are really great!

I love everything about this image except the dish.

If I wanted to impress TOS design sensibilities onto a TNG-era starship design, I would do two things:

1: Try to reshape the secondary hull so it was a little more rounded (nothing as drastic as the TOS hull, though

2: replace the old-style dish with an embedded more softly glowing disc like to one on the Enterprise-E.

One other thing from TNG, I would give the saucer a few more windows, but make sure they are shaped like TOS-style windows, not TNG.

It would be interesting to impress TOS and TNG design sensibilities on the Enterprise-E, BTW.

Yeah, it does look awkward, that's true. Just goes to show how much they really changed the design for the spin-off.

I will probably try it the other way around, too. With the skin of the D mapped unto the NCC-1701.
That one is begging for a sombrero.

Altogether, though, very nice work. Your patience and persistence shows.

No, I definitely noticed that, too, although I didn't realize what it was until you mentioned it. :)

Ah, this needy guy again. :p

Yeah, I will do more. When I find the time and – more importantly – the ambition. But it's nice of you to let me know that you still care about this whole idea. :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present ... the Galatution! Or is it the Constitaxy?

I like how this turned out. This time I combined an image of the Enterprise-D (created by Gabe Koerner, if I'm not mistaken) with a rendering of the classic Enterprise, which was very kindly done for me by Starscape. (Thanks again, Andrew!) It took forever to do this (the Photoshop file has several hundred layers), but I'm happy with the result.

Wow, that is really great!

This would make a great ship unto itself!

Wow, this is truly awesome. This should've been the JJprise for the new movie. Very, very cool.

Like the first one, nicely done morphing, the second one is a bit off because the saucer is too much TOS style juxtaposed over Galaxy battle hull. Third one is just snazzy as hell; neat combination of all the elements.
