An alternate idea about Alexander...

Worf'sParmach

Commander
Red Shirt
I've always thought the way Alexander was handled on DS9 was pretty lame. I figured way back then that with Sisko being the resident single father, having Worf bring his son would have seemed redundant. But when he finally appears in Sons and Daughters he was stupid and useless and it was just the same old "you're not the warrior I want you be" we'd seen before.

So what if Alexander had come back a badass instead of a weakling? Maybe in those years his father was ignoring him he spent his time teaching himself how to be the Klingon Worf always wanted, but in the process he became even better. So when they meet on the Rotarran, Alexander is now ashamed of Worf for choosing Starfleet over the Empire. Maybe he doesn't even want people to know Worf is his father, and Worf has to sit and listen to Martok go on and on about how awesome this Alexander guy is.

Just a though I had, and you guys are the only ones I know to share it with :klingon:

I like it, Worf's abilities as a father were a joke, his own step-father looked to be a good man, and Worf could have pulled from his own childhood memories to raise Alexander. But he didn't.

As for Alexander showing up a bad ass, how about Alexander first drops Alexander and as a adult uses Alex. Or do the Buffy thing and use Xander.

He embraces his one quarter Human heritage and and the various martial arts that are a part of it, when he reappears he is a combination of Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. He possesses fighting skills like the Klingons have never seen before, and is rapidly building a reputation as a warrior among the Klingon people.

A reputation that exceeds Worf.

Klingons are typically slow moving in the majority of their fight scenes, they use power before speed, have Alex move like a bat out of hell when he battles his fellow Klingons, again they've never seen this way of fighting.

Alexander was always such a dork on TNG that if he had shown up as a badass on DS9 I wouldn't have believed it and would've laughed my ass off.

Yeah, making Alexander another fighting-heavy Klingon, even one with the atypical traits noted above, would have felt like a real sell-out of the original character concept.

I wish they'd done more to follow up on the possible future Alexander we saw in TNG.

They do in the novels. He becomes Federation ambassador.

But in any case, the hints are in there. Alexander, try as he did, never came close to being a warrior. If it weren't for the Dominion War going on, no doubt causing a shortage, I'm sure Alexander would've gotten run out of the KDF.

I think Alexander outdoing his father actually wouldn't have been a bad idea. I wish they had done more with Alexander. I feel like a lot of the development between him and Worf happened off-screen.
