Amusing IMDB rumor for the Christmas special

I was looking around at Brian Blessed's credits on IMDB (having seen him pop in yet another British classic series, this time Blake's 7) and was amused to see him listed as Omega for this year's Christmas special.

(big shouty voice): HELLO! I'M OMEGA!

He'd be good for it actually..

They'd have to explain, though, why he was pretending to be King Yrconos and what he did with Peri. (Blessed guest starred in Trial of a Time Lord).

I do agree that Blessed would be a cool choice for Omega. Only thing is The End of Time seemed to close the door for good on the Time Lords, so I can't really see Moffat dipping into that again (except maybe to resurrect Susan, which was the subject of another casting rumor a few months ago that turned out to be bogus).

Contrary to most, I like Brian Blessed a lot. Anyone who questions his acting abilities needs to watch I, Claudius. Yes, he does occasionally slip into the bombastic but that's part of his charm. That being said, I don't want him to play Omega if for no other reason than I don't particularly care for the character.

I disagree that the Time Lord's can't be used again. RTD brought them back and I'm sure as he's already shown us in series five that Moffat is creative enough to bring them back if he wants to. I think Brian Blessed would be an excellent choice for Omega as well...

I bet you fifty Grotzits before the end of the Moff era the Time Lords have turned up at least once more...

I, too, think Brian Blessed is awesome. I, Claudius sits on my dvd shelf surrounded perpetually by an air of distinction.

Its either that or cobwebs..

I don't know Katherine Jenkins from atom (although she's certainly easy on the eyes), but Michael Gambon is fantastic! Yet another distinguished actor appears on Doctor Who. :D
IMDB is generally ok for past productions, but not future ones like this
Yes, I'm well aware of that (as I pointed out in a thread a month ago in regards to their listing of Philip Madoc in "The Big Bang"). I was merely amused by the nature of the listing itself.

Brian Blessed. Anyone seen his turn as host on the Brit show 'Have I Got News For You'? It's on YouTube, watch it, you'll never stop laughing. Chaos!

There was a pic of Blessed looking suave in a tux in SFX magazine. It was captioned, 'On Her Majesty's Shouty Service'.

Jenkins is a singer - somewhere between easy listening, pop & opera.

So Kylie casting but quite a few degrees less famous though she is well known in the UK - she tends to get invited to do national anthems at sporting events and things like that.

Gambon should be fantastic.

Sadly, this is the kind of casting I was hoping Doctor Who had stopped wasting time with.

At least Gambon is an actual actor, I suppose, even if he is an arrogant jerk, but Jenkins is just an annoying singer. I wish we could go back to the days when actors auditioned for parts.
