Amazon UK: Elisabeth Sladen autobiography out Apr 25

Interesting. I wonder how current it is, eg if it deals with her illness etc. Did anyone know this was coming?

I wonder if perhaps she's known about this for a long time, and decided she'd best get it all down in book form while she still had the chance? :(

It was announced months ago, and I believe there was a thread about it here.

It's possible the book's release might be delayed, though. I saw one site listing it with a release date in the summer. I saw this BEFORE Sladen died, but Amazon's dates tend to be authoritative, so I went with it.

It's impossible to say if she did the book because of her illness, or if she did it because of the large number of Doctor Who actors and crew who have released autobiographies in the last couple years, including Mary Tamm, Frazer Hines, Nicholas Courtney, Barry Letts, Debbie Watling, Anneke Wills, Matthew Waterhouse, plus Colin Baker's published two volumes of newspaper columns (with a short story collection due out any day), and even Daphne Ashbrook has a book coming out.

If the book's due out on the 25th, there's no point in delaying it: it'll be printed and already in the warehouses, so to update it would be immensely costly - the warehoused copies and review copies would have to be recalled, the printed copies would have to be pulped and replaced by a new print-run, etc...

With the exception of Fraser, all of those were published by Hirst Books or Fantom Films, small fan based organisations - by fans for fans. Whereas Lis' was bought by a large publishing company. They may asked for a delay in the hope she'd have been able to do an extensive signing tour later.

Emphasis mine.

The release date I have for it at work is June 1st of this year.

I can't attest to how accurate that is, however. It may not be.
